| Administrator | Star Trek: Supremacy (Unofficial BotF sequal) Hey all. I might be showing my age here but do you guys remember Star Trek: Birth of the Federation? Was an old MPS game I believe. A game along similar lines to the Civilization, Master of Orion and GalCiv series'. The idea was you take a Star Trek race (Cardassian, Federation, Klingon, Feringi or Romulan) from the beginnings of their empire, with a single planet, and grow them into major empires. Well anyway, there has been, for many years, talk on and off of creating a sequel for the game. It had it's faults but it really was a solid game for its time and there's plenty of potential there to create a kick ass follow on. Well, I came across Star Trek: Supremacy today, which is well on the way to achieving this goal. It's an unofficial fan project but so far it is looking quite impressive. Screenshots here: Star Trek Game Screenshots - Star Trek: Supremacy Video of the gameplay can be seen here: Created with Camtasia Studio 5 Download the pre-release demo here: Birth of the Federation 2 • View topic - Supremacy Pre-Release Download [16 December 2007] They're also looking for some help with the project. The need artists to render some new building types among other things... |

| I've been waiting a very long time for this, keeping tabs on it on occasion. Their progress is _very_ slow (keep losing coders/modellers) but they have released an alpha a few months back. |
| Current WIPS: None 'cause I'm a lazy bastard. "With 5,000,000 models being destroyed a week, who's going to miss another one?" | |

| Wow, fancy seeing my game on here . Actually, the original BotF2 project fell through entirely after the lead developer disappeared. I still have my doubts as to whether he actually coded anything at all. Currently, however, there are two BotF2 projects actively in development--Star Trek: Supremacy, which I started around June 2006, and Birth of the Empires, which was started around 2004 by a German team (though there is an English translation available).Supremacy has been in active development since its inception, save for a couple months that I took off after my college graduation. Because of the precarious history of the BotF2 project, I've tried my best to keep the development process as transparent as possible so people can track the actual progress of the game. That includes frequent pre-releases. It's very much a community-driven project, so we're always looking for new ideas and content contributors . |

| SFM Nugget | The images over on startrek-games were uploaded by me, but some of them are a little out of date now. I've agreed to be the official "ambassadore" for Supremacy on Startrek-games, so I need to have a word with Chessmess and see if he can delete the older images so I can put new ones up. I need o update the wiki entry as well as it's looking a little spartan at the moment. If anyone wants any info about Supremacy or the BOTF2 project as a whole though, just let me know. I've been on the forums since the time of Gavin, (The original developer who "disappeared") and spend rather more time than I should online. Jigalypuff noted just how much I knew about the project and has made me one of the forum admin now, although I have little to do with game programming. I just help wherever I can and have been writing much of the database entries for the minor races and buildings in Supremacy. I'm happy to provide help and information though, and we're keen to increase the number of active forum users to get as much game feedback as possible, so I hope to see you guys on the forums in future. |
