Goldeneye: Source

Goldeneye Source - A Half-Life 2 Modification

Anybody tried this out yet? I'm downloading the files now to check it out. Looks promising from what they've got up there

If they can maintain the playability then this will rock. Goldeneye still remains one of the best games in the genre despite its age and the low detail graphics... Just goes to show how playability > everything else!

That looks brilliant!

Me and my mate recently shelled out £20 on a secondhand N64 and a copy of Goldeneye, just to relive those brilliant multiplayer moments.

Seeing as Microsoft now own Rare (and all the Rare rights) it's always been a dream to see a *new* Goldeneye running on the 360, or at the very least the original released on XBOX Live. It remains the absolute best 1st person shooter I've ever played, in my opinion- I've never been able to lose entire days playing a game like I did with Goldeneye.

Unfortunately Rare doesn't hold the rights anymore. Even after the smashing success of Goldeneye, the rights were sold to EA and have remained with them ever since. A shame, since EA has only produced one barely playable game for the franchise (Everything or Nothing).

I LOVE the updated version of facility--very HL2 creepy

I still got my N64 and a copy of Golden Eye. just need to find two more N64 controls.
then it invite the guys round for a few beer and play it all night long, just like the old days.

as for this game it look promising, but how will it compare to the orignal, most games today still don't come close to it.

Yeah Greg EA does suck. very few game form them are any good.

im pretty sure rare and nintendo hold the IP for the goldeneye007 game, ea holds the license for bond at the moment which would include any future games.

what would halt a xbla version would be nintendo, and what would halt a virtual console version would be microsoft

i downloaded an early beta release of the mod with only a hand full of maps, it was pretty sweet, good graphical update to the classic game. goldeneye and perfect dark where almost always stuck in my 64

And when the day arrives, i'll become the sky
And i'll become the sea and the sea will come to kiss me. For I am going home

nothing can stop me now

i loved the multiplayer-singleplayer...ever tried it out, that one person was stearing the movement and the other was aiming, but both the same character? that was some fun. downloading the mod right now.

I remember trying that out- it was great fun with the lads and some beers, but a coordination nightmare beyond about 9:00 PM....
