Is Cortana Really so far gone? From what I can tell in the trailer. She still has a very important role to play. The GraveMind in the end of Halo 2 seemed quite eager to talk to her, as from what I can tell the floods version of events regaurding Halo and forunners. I don't think a biological plant spore thing can really effect a AI program. Anyway Cortana to me seemed to be picking up the MC's habit of taking risk. Although if you think about since the first Halo game. Cortana had always been a little reckless even for a AI constuct.

Okay after some reinstalling and playing Halo on my computer. I have the PC one. I made it to the part where cortana the MC and the little droid dude are talking to each other. He does call Master Chief the Reclaimer. Infact he even told him that they went through the procedure of the destruction of the flood before and that MC did activate the Halo defense systems before. The little guy seemed confused that the chief didn't remember there last encounter. So that must mean at some point in the Past the MC or someone like him did activate the halo defense systems. The Grave Mind somehow knows this. which mean Cortana probably now knows this too...

| SFM Guru | Guilty Spark didn't directly say that they had been activated before. He said "last time you asked if I where in your position, would I do it? Having had considerable time to ponder the query my answer has not changed." This only means there was a situation where a reclaimer, who may have simply been a Forerunner who 343 was confusing with the Chief, got as far as activating the Halos then stopped. Otherwise the flood would be gone. Plus the question he asks implies that the reclaimer did not activate the Halos, and 343 disagreed with the decision, since his answer was most certainly that he would have activated the Halos. Also, what if the gods Cortana was referring to where the Prophets, and the Demons where the Humans? The covenant are always calling Humans, or more specifically the chief demons. Maybe she has for some reason been twisted into a pro Covenant stance? I'm not sure if its some backstage fact that she for sure and without question says "I have defiled gods and demons." But if not it seems as if she could have instead said "I have defiled gods FOR demons." If my logic makes sense to anyone but me, they get a chew toy. |

I've only just finished Halo 2 - so ignored this thread until now. I assumed the Ark was Earth, and humans were the reclaimers, as earth was seeded to 'reclaim' the galaxay once all existing life was wiped out. The Grave Mind... No idea! DAve (I bought an XBox to play Halo - will buy a 360 for Halo 3!)

The grave mind in the end of Halo 2 wanted to ask cortana questions. It defiently is intellegent and even allowed the MC and the Elite to live. The Gravemind seems to know of the events of the first Halo incident. not the one we know but of the first time the Flood infestation. If anyone in the galaxy has any knowledge of who the forerunners were it would be it and guilty spark. If the Gravemind knew about a MC of the past and humans being the forunners. Cortana would defiently like to know. Everything for Halo 3 is set in place. The Master Chief has made it back to Earth to Finish the War he was designed to fight. The covenant invasion fleet has arrived and is attacking earth. The Elite who learned of the failings of his religion and the discovery of the true nature of the Halo's, and branded as a traitor along with other elites is fighting the covenant he and his kind had served for so long. The Gravemind expands and infest preparing for its invasion of Earth (maybe) Cortana now stranded with the Gravemind her mind is in question. Is she truly insane or is she on her own mission to find out more about the forunners. and Guilty Spark. where is that little tin ball?
