They are all bloody awfull,

Surely there were some better images taken in 2006.

Numpties, everywhere. 'Can you do this for nothing', it's all you ever hear from them!

My personal fave of this year is a great pic of M104, the Sombrero Galaxy (from Hubble i think). I have ordered a huge print of it to go on my wall

A touched up larger version is in the background on my 'under construction' page on my website too.

May I nominate,

Colliding Galaxies, Captured October 13th, 2006

Although, the actual event took place 500M years ago... but who's counting?

Lets keep this going: Post your fav space image from 2006

the silhouette of the ISS and shuttle against the sun is quite amazing, and the one of saturn too, the rest don't seem as interesting

I pity the fool!

That Saturn pic is my new wallpaper.

This reminds me one of the reasons I love astronomy, I've spent the last hour going through this site. Astronomy Picture of the Day Archive

Well given how it's, so far, the only list I've seen it's not terrible. It leaves alot to be desired though!

1) The Saturn image is ho-hum, but would've been awe-inspiring if it was an ultra-close-up of it's clouds.

2) BLAH! Very boring.

3) DEFINATELY cool!

4) It looks like a PS filter example....

5) Would've been cool if it was taken by an ameutur and was of better resolution.

6) Probably the coolest image of the bunch. "Here roams Humanity's children."

7) WTF! technical wizardy maybe, but BLAH!

8) Great image but it's number 2.

9 & 10) See 7.
