A Star Wars question

I was watching Looney Tunes Back in Action earlier this evening with my 2 youngest kids, and the part where Bugs Bunny uses a Lightsaber got me wondering, just how many films since 1977 have referenced Star Wars in some form or other ? I mean even films like Ferris Buellers Day off has a Star Wars joke, the list must run into hundreds, it's kind of like how many times has the shower scene from Psycho been spoofed, even Looney Tunes Back in Action does that one too ! I wonder if anyone has made a list of Star Wars gags, references etc... ?

um... Most notably is The Simpsons... They refer to it in nearly every third episode...
Gilmore Girls, Sex and the City, Boston Legal, Grey's Anatomy refer to it several times... Smallville, Farscape, few of a CSI-series' episodes, Cancer in Blue, several Chinese series I've seen also make a little fun...

Actually I'm only referring to the versions I know from German TV... Maybe the English version differs in such jokes (spoken ones) to make the word flow better...

I guess there are many, many more...

See the Shadows of Darkness, Hear the Scream of Cruelty...

Spielberg's 'Club Obi-Wan' in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Elliot showing E.T the Star Wars toys, plus Yoda in Fancy dress during the Trick or Treat scene etc... Back to the Future mentions Darth Vader the list is endless, I'd say no other film in poular culture has been referenced more.

I doubt I could find a specific reference to this on the internet, but I remember seeing something on TV in the last year that SW has been referenced/spoofed hundreds of thousands of times...so many times that it would be hard to count them all up...which is why they basically just call the SW films a cultural icon.

Of course this pretty much refers to ST as well!

Just the other day at work, I was asked to weld a broken office chair that I'd at first said couldn't be done. I decided to give it a shot anyway and when I'd actually been able to fix it, I exclaimed out loud, "My GOD Jim, I'm a doctor, not a welder! But I think I can save this chair!"

Everyone caught the reference immediately!

christ....i've read that over 30 movies alone have reference to SW, and almsot as many TV shows

When you love a pet, loosing it is like loosing a part of your soul. I lost part of mine on Feb 12 2008. Never will it be the same again.

Only few movies can do this...
The other one (not at the same level of SW, but quite "used") is "The Matrix"...
Do you remember a post-1999 movie or TV show with an action sequence without a slow-motion or bullet with a trail or a turn-around camera movement since then?

BTW, SW was "used" in almost every movie or TV show I've ever seen (except the crappy products of the Italian TV ) c'mon, last day I was watching LOST and Sawyer called Jin "Chewie"...

Thank you, namaste and good luck www.jagthesite.com____Ramielarium____My Blog!

I know that there have been at least a couple of references to SW in Stargate. The number of shows that does this is probably so many that it would be impossible to name them all.

I have a book, written back in 2000 about SW and the fandom...

They said that 6 persons listed all their known gags, reels, jokes... about SW in the TV-shows...
After that they united their lists in one bigger... The book said that if this list would be printed, it would be printed in three columns, filling a book with about 400 pages...
So I think it's pretty much...

See the Shadows of Darkness, Hear the Scream of Cruelty...

That's why I've became a Warrior of Heart, Defend the one you like, Guard the one you love...

Why don't you all sit down and start naming the movies that reference it? We could come up with our very own list...

I still smile when I think of that line from Armageddon where the American oil drillers are up driving around on the asteroid with the crazy Russian cosmonaut...They're trying to work out a way over a massive ravine and Ben Afleck turns to him and asks "Have you ever heard of 'Evel Knievel'? And the Russian replies "No, I've never seen Star Wars...". heh.
