Insane Detail Club?

Any plans to resurrect this? There are certainly no shortage of candidates these days. It would be another honor for members to aspire to.

modeling something with greath details is one thing...modeling something with a ton of crap on it is another. so if you take in consideration the first one only. the club would be actually pretty small.

When you love a pet, loosing it is like loosing a part of your soul. I lost part of mine on Feb 12 2008. Never will it be the same again.

Was the club created by SFM itself, or by the members? It never appeared to me that it was something that SFM had any control over or involvement in, but I joined well after the IDC was created.

Anyone have the scoop on the history? Perhaps one of the IDC members could chime in here.

As I recall, you, IRML, and Fractalsponge were IDC members. Who else was in the club?

the club kind of became meaningless after a while when a 250 k mesh was no longer considered "insane"

I think EBOLII was the founder btw. Not sure though. Anyway, I see no reason to have a seprate "elite" on what is mainly a hobbyists forum. Standards of detail vary so much from subject to subject anyway, which makes it all rather pointless. An insane greebles club makes more sense to me, seeing as greeble work is what most people think of when you mention detail in the sci-fi context.

Anyway, I think it should be up to former club members whether of not to revive it. I know for a fact that most, if not all, the members don't have any interest in doing so for the above mentioned reasons.

the "I think i'll do a TOS Enterprise" Club

the "If you build it, they won't come" Club

I'm definitely a member of the first one.

And are quite familiar with the third one.

You did miss out the "I wish I had made backups of my forum" club though.
