Formula 1 2007 Season

I've been waiting very impatiently for the start of the season and it's finally coming up this weekend at Melbourne. Testing has been interesting so far, and I'm hoping Kimi Raikkonen can get his first win with Ferrari this weekend So anyone here a F1 fan?

Yes, and looking forward to it immensely, as ever. Personally I think Ferrari has a bit of an edge, but McLaren will be right there with them, and I think in the long run they stand to do better. Kimi is fast, but he isn't as dedicated as Alonso, or Hamilton (from what I can tell... though he won't play a major part in development its true to say). It should be a good season though.

I dunno about Kimi not being dedicated. Of all the drivers that tested this Winter, he was the one that completed more mileage from all of them, and was well 700km more of what Alonso did.

Still, I expect the championship to be between Alonso and Raikkonen. Everyone keeps saying Massa can do it, but he's not up to that point yet.

Well I don't mean he isn't dedicated in that way, its just that he seems to lack the long-term commitment the others have. He said recently that he doesn't see himself in F1 in 5 years time. He just wants to win a championship then he'll probably go on to something else. But I agree that it is probably going to be between him and Alonso... won't be able to say more on that until after the race I think.

A couple of the teams lower down the order should be interesting to watch as well. BMW seem to have made quite a bit of progress, Renault have slipped back seemingly, though much of that is because Alonso isn't there any more. Personally I think Fisichella is badly overrated and I don't think they are going to do so well with him as team leader this year. Honda... will be much like last year I think. Both of their drivers are good, but they just don't seem to be able to make a car that's fast enough. Toyota look nowhere again... if that keeps up I can't see them staying in F1 much longer actually.

Yeah. I agree with most of what you said. BMW actually is one of my fav teams now Toyota should pack and leave if Williams finish ahead of them this year...it's just stupid the amount of money they are pouring into F1 and done nothing so far. Honda is pathetic as well, with all the Eco car now...hehe.

And just to settle the Kimi thing, Alonso has also said he doesn't see himself in F1 in another 5 years. I actually think that the 3 year contract both pilots have with their respective teams might be the last they'll have in F1.

True... I probably just read an article written by an anti-Kimi person hehe. Personally I quite like Kimi and would like to see him do well, but I prefer Alonso overall I think. Toyota need to look long and hard at Renault - they achieved a lot on a relatively small budget.

Yeah, Renault did a superb job the last two seasons. Though one has to wonder if Fisichella will be able to continue the momentum. I personally don't think so. If they grab a couple of wins, I'd be inclined to bet on Heikki doing it.

Meh I don't like either Kimi or Alonso, though I absolutely dislike alonso.. though since he's now a Ferrari driver I need to root for Kimi... oh well I'll survive.. perhaps
