ATTN pacemaker users: drop that iPod!

According to this article on CNN a recent medical study shows that iPods can interfere with pacemakers if held close to the chest for 5-10 seconds, causing the pacemaker to misread cardiac rhythms. Said the author of the study: "Most iPod users don't wear pacemakers." Well, not for long, anyway. Talk about your heart-stopping music...

Wow, i wonder what component inside is causing the problem? Could it be an everyday item that we have in other stuff like certain mobile phones or palm computers? or is this just a trick by competitors paying a bunch of researchers to kill the competition?

Next they will claim SBD bean farts will interfere with a pacemaker. Seriously the makers of the things need to rethink the product because way too much in the daily life messes with the things. From automatic doors to Wifi hotspots.
Maybe they should hand out guides, "Pacemaker plan of life, how to become a Hikimori/NEET"

Clock most likely. Clock and batteries are usually the biggest emitters of EMI.

I never liked iPods anyway, it's the biggest example of style over substance ever...

I wonder if Applegeeks will have anything to say about it? I can imagine Hawk walking along the street, listening to the iPod, holding it in his hand, and random people dropping dead as he walks by...

Of course. Talking about how good a Mac is compared to a PC and they'll be bored to death instantaneously?
