| SFM Guru | Star Wars Sacrifice (*spoilers*) Right, so, as it says, there will be spoilers here. Read at your own risk ![]() Right, so, to all those who've been following the Legacy of the Force series, we all know that Jacen is going down the path of the Sith, ironically for selfless reasons rather than the selfish ones displayed by his grandfather. In Sacrifice, we were told, he would assume his Darth name. And thats not all. Here's some of the highlights. - Ben assassinates Dur Gejjen, Head of State for the Five Worlds and de facto political leader of the anti- Alliance confederation. - The rift between Ben and Jacen widens as a result. When Ben discovers his cousin and Master is in league with Lumiya (Dark Lady of the Sith), he tells his mother who was already tracking Lumiya. She decides to kill Jacen instead. -When Mara confronts Jacen, she is killed. Jacen assumes the name Darth Caedus and the title of Dark Lord of the Sith. -Jacen then uses a loophole in the law in his capacity of head of the Galactic Alliance Guard to arrest Cal Omas. He then becomes co-Head of State of the Alliance with the authoritarian Mon Cal Supreme Commander Cha Niathal. -Luke hunts down and kills Lumiya whom he believes is responsible for Mara's death. It is only after this does Ben tell his father Lumiya was not Mara's killer. I can't wait for the book to come out next week and read up on all the details. It will be great |

| I'll have to pick that up while I'm on vacation. Sounds like it'll be really good. Too bad I went ahead and read the spoilers, but oh well. Hopefully this one will have better writing than some of the other books in this series. None of them have been extraordinary, certainly none of them have compared to Timothy Zahn's books. |

| SFM Obsessed | I had the unfortunate happenstance of actually reading some of the later stuff that is published in the StarWars universe. And honestly I find it more tripe than anything else: when compared to Zahn, Allston, etc. the newest books are jokes. A thing that has been carried much to far out of bounds. (A quick fix would be to have everybody die and reassert the Empire without any people from the 'past' showing up. Then you can repeat the whole thing...) Ah, well. Not my fault its all bad story-telling... :P |

| "Spooky" Mulder | Just out of curiosity, can anyone recomend any SW universe books for me? I have never read any SW books and i don't want to end up reading a rubbish one and be put off of buying others. |

| SFM Guru | Well, Berticus, you'll be happy to know that Allston is still writing SW novels. In fact he's writing three of the planned nine books in the Legacy of the Force series (Betrayal, Exile and Fury). To Farcry: here's a list to get you started. ![]() Zahn's Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, The Last Command) Stackpole and Allston's X-Wing series (9 books in total) as well as Stackpole's I, Jedi. Michael P. Kube-McDowell's Black Fleet Crisis books are also pretty good (Before the Storm, Shield of Lies and Tyrant's Nest). Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Of course there's plenty of others such as the Corellian Trilogy, The Republic Commando series, the MedStar duology, etc. There's also the young adult series. They're short easy reads that have a much lighter tone to them. I've only read a couple but the few I have were a nice, fun and quick read. THe Jedi Apprentice series chronicles Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenodi's adventures prior to Ep.I. The Jedi Quest series similarly chronicles Anakin and Obi-Wan's partnership between Ep.I and II. While the Young Jedi Knights series details the events of Jacen and Jaina Solo's Jedi Academy class. Then of course you have the newer books. The New Jedi Order is a series of 27 works (19 novels) which detail the Yuuzhan Vong War. The Dark Nest trilogy details the Killik war five years later. And the latest series is Legacy of the Force, currently coming out with it's 5th of 9 books which chronicles the Second Corellian Insurrection/ Galactic Alliance Civil War. All in all, they're all good books, though some people (as seen above) prefer the ones published in the '90s before the prequel movies. |

Just ask yourself how many times you've seen or read a "Romeo and Juliet" like relationship. Some things just will never get old I guess.

The Han Solo Trilogy by A.C.Crispin (The Paradise Snare, The Hutt Gambit, Rebel Dawn). These books cover Han Solo's life for ten years prior to Episode IV. Also check out Han Solo Adventure trilogy by Brian Delay which covers a time gap in Crispin's Rebel Dawn.
