ahoy! (yea I'm a show-off)

My special girl gave me a ship's wheel for my B-day last year, and this past week I decided to make a stand for it. It's not great, but I'm happy 'cause I made it myself from scratch... yea, including the carved emblem (it's the Sea Scout anchor, I may volunteer this for ceremonies).

enjoy

That's a really nice stand there! Are you gonna stain it?

likely yes but not soon... don't have much experience with stain, plus I have to match it to the tone of the wheel (which came prestained and I'm not really interested in sanding it all off). Additionally, the stand is made from various types of wood (mostly maple but also oak and alder and some other type I haven't identified, a side effect of the minimal cost involved in this project: free scrap wood), which makes uniform results even more difficult.
