Apple Mac OS X Update For 17 Vulnerabilities

"Apple has released fixes for 17 OSX vulnerabilities, ranging from system takeover to denial-of-service attacks. It was the fifth security update released this year. It also marked the first time this year that an operating system security update from Apple did not patch a vulnerability disclosed by the January Month of Apple Bugs project. Today's update pushed Apple's year-to-date patch total to over 100. More than one of the affected flaws were called 'critical' or 'dangerous'."

These are only 17. A securety exspert already said that a Mac OSx machine is just as vunruble as a PC is. To viruses and other flaws in teh OS. its simply a matter of focus of the attacker.

Got i hate those mac vs PC adds there so flawed in there logic.

And yet, I've never had more fun using a computer.

I still take every precaution on my mac, as I would when im operating vista... I prefer to enjoy my computing experience, instead of spending 3/4 of my time troubleshooting

Vista? Troubleshooting?! Public beta?! NEVER!

The current slew of operating systems are far too resource intensive for my liking. Took me a long time to go from Windows 2000 to XP and it will be a long, long time before I go to Vista, if I switch at all. An OS should be a facilitator of applications with a minimal footprint and ease of use. OSX is probably still the best in terms of straight forward usage. MS has the best application support. Both however are a bit too "look what I can do!" and instead of being the platform they are becoming applications in their own right...

Grumble over

Particularly with Vista, I don't want to have to get another 1gb stick of ram in order to have the same level of performance with my current stick of ram, as well as a new graphics card. These new OSs do take up way too much memory/processor power. It isn't needed so why do they do it?!? Someday either China or India will make a basic, quick and secure OS to supplement their thriving computer industries. With the billion or so minds available, they'll give MS a run for their money if they decide to do something about this problem.

I'm more or less concerned about what the flaws are, not how many. But a lot of these exploits require direct access to the computer, and I know for a fact I'm the only one using it.

I'll be sure to update today. I'm usually careful on the net, anyway.

haha- yeah, Microsoft Commercials tell us Windows is good as well. We stopped believeing commercials some time ago.

Simple fact is that all Operating Systems have vulnerabilities, what matters is how they're tackled, and whats done to make sure they don't recur in later versions.
