| SFM Obsessed | New Comupting, or slight of hand? PC World - In Pictures: Microsoft's Multi-Touch 'Surface' Table So, sicne these are the only pictures I could find of "Milan" here ya go... Basically, the question is, is microsoft genuinely trying to change the functionality and interaction of a computer (ala a device for immersing yourself in another reality like Douglas Adams) ((Obscure literary quote, read the third book in the Hitchhikers series if you don't get it)) Or are they trying to pass off a fancy picture show on a mock-up for genuine inovation in the same manner they've pretended to innovate by stealing ideas from Macintosh, Linux, Adobe, and the web? |

| ok, im not trying to bash MS, i mean i use windows all the time and have nothing against office and stuff, but isnt that the exact same thing that mac has a video of a while ago? iirc it was a screen that you could select, move, and manipulate stuff without any visible interface. to re-size a pic you would touch its corners and pull them where you wanted them and such.. either way it matters little who came up with the technology, what counts is who gets it into my home/office in the best way. |

| This is only a 'let's bash MS topic' if members let it be such - we don't need to come in here with a preconception of that. As far as I can see (MS mention aside, or Mac etc.), this is all about a potential future interface...let's all keep it that way. |

| Multi-Touch Interaction Research I don't know about it being the latest and greatest from MS. But the technology is available. |

| SFM Obsessed | Hmmmm, no if this were a bash MS thread, I would have just said "gee, look at what MS stole now" instead of asking an actual question. but yeah, it does look like th same layout mac had for a while (not to mention using many of the same design features already available on the upcoming iPhone from apple) at the same time though, it would be nice to think someone was thinking outside the 2-d window-style interface box that all three OS's currently use. |
