DIY Infrared Filter for Digital Cameras

saw this on engadget, and I'm definitely going to try it!

The improved DIY infrared filter for stygian photogs - Engadget
instructables : A better diy infrared filter - Take stunning digital IR pictures, and video footage. : intro

it's so simple it's not even funny!
-pill bottle
-floppy disk
-unexposed processed film
-electrical tape

put 'em together and get this

(well maybe that pic was done with a proper filter, but anyway this has to be the cheapest way to start on IR photography )

Interesting, I may have to try this out. Some of our wedding pictures were taken with IR film and just looked awesome.

hmm . . . I tried it with just the floppy disk and everything comes out either dark, or red and blurry
I must experiment more . . .

I've seen this before, is it actually real? it seems just like a DIY image filter that looked a bit infa red style

I pity the fool!

actually ignore that, this actually shows it in action unlike the first video I saw a few months ago, it does appear to work but really to me it seems like it's just blocking out certain light so you can get a higher exposure in the darker areas without getting washout from the brighter areas

maybe I'm getting this wrong but I thought a proper infa red lense was more complex than that

I pity the fool!
