| Hmm, I don't know much about Gundam though I have seen the first few episodes of Seed, till the crashlanding in the desert. Let's just say that I could never relate with any of the characters. Kira kept blabbing "I don't wanna, but my friends are here. Dammit. Asran, why are you fighting me?" Asran was the same thing. "No, Kira! What are you doing on that Mobile Suit?! You belong with us, ZAFT!" (What does ZAFT stand for anyway?) Frey was boring in my opinion though it got a bit more interesting when her precious daddy blew up before her eyes. She went totally wacko. From hating all coördinators (including Kira, though the others prevent her from saying it.) she went to actually beginning a relation with one, dropping her fiancee in the process. The captain girl, what was she supposed to do? After dragging Kira into the Strike and pointing a gun at his friends (Go, intimidation, yeah!), all I heard her say was something which the subtitles translated as battlestations. Lacus was so naïve, it wasn't even funny. The only fun I got out of her was when Kira returned her to her boyfriend, Asran. The look on everyone's face when they saw her in a spacesuit was brilliant. With that skirt folded up, it looked as if she was pregnant. I could almost hear Asran think "Kira, what the hell did you people do with her while she was your hostage?" One of the few good scenes. The Blonde-haired pilot was just about the only cool guy around, not because of the dialogue but because he blasted Suit after Suit and even damaged a bloody warship. All using a fighter that was downed by the tons with zero losses if flown by anyone else. Now that's skill. And Asran's buddies, bleh. All talk yet no results to count for it. Going to the tech, visually it was nice though it would have been more exciting if the Archangel was a tad more vulnerable. One time, Blitz was blasting quite some time at a single spot and after super-Kira drived it away, there was only a little scorchmark, as if the paint got scratched a little. And then they're trying to make me believe it was in danger of being destroyed? So no, I didn't really like Seed. But that's not to say that I dislike giant robots. No way, I love Super Robot Wars and have been having a blast with Divine Wars. Maybe it's because the story is so much lighter, the Hagane a bit more vulnerable (but with superfast repairs) and the characters so much more enjoyable. There are similarities between the two though. The first two episodes were basically the same, with simple youth being pulled into a high-tech warmachine. But Ryusei pulled it off better for the following reasons. 1: He had a reason. Kusuha was buried under some rubble and he couldn't let that bug get near her. Compare this with Kira who just got pulled in by the captain. 2: It was not mere chance. The attack had been staged anyway. (I know this because I played the game it was based on. Yeah, I'm a cheater.) Also, Ryusei was a monitored potential pilot before he ever saw his first real Geshpenst. 3: The controls of the Geshpenst had been modified to mimick those of the game Ryusei had been playing a lot lately. In fact, Ryusei just placed second in the national tournament around that game. The game was some sort of fighting game with big robots. The Burning PT. So in short, he wasn't such a rookie as Kira who might be a coördinator, but it takes more than knowledge of computers to reprogram a state-of-the-art fighting machine you don't know a bloody thing about. At least the programming had been already done. 4: Kai and his gang end up saving the day, not Ryusei. And Kai is a thirty-year old veteran. Ok, Kira got a bit saved by a battleship and a hotshot pilot, but they instantly reverted to fully relying on him to save them time and time again which takes me to... 5: Ryusei wasn't instantly upgraded to full pilot. He had to learn the basics first in a sim. 6: The Geshpenst was a tried and reliable design. I hate super-designs that pull of everything at once without proper testing first. I guess that's why I don't like the R1 that much, even though it is a development of the Wildraubtier. And while I hate Super-designs coming out of nowhere, I have to say that I love Cybuster for its good looks and style. Same with the Grungusts. With the exception of Cybuster, all robots I've seen so far are based on an older model. This ends this no-reason rant. But as for suggestions, I hope that they're going to put in more old people. I want to see the older veterans kicking behind. Why do the children get to have all the fun? Seriously, unless you're some kid who's been trained straight from birth for this every guy twice your age should trash you in ten seconds flat in the simulator. And I also hope that the bad guys get something more unique. Seed got kind of tiring when the bad guys used Gundams as their offense, just after stealing them. They look all so much alike at times I had trouble distinguishing Duel from Strike. And I want indeed to have some different places to go to. Jupiter isn't necessary, nor is mars. What about Venus or Mercury? I don't know what could be found there, but I want someone moving away from the standard list of planets to visit. Mercury could be in the same orbit as these giant solar panels that produce power for the world and beam it over with whatever it was the scientists once proposed. Imagine the threat of the bad guys getting hold of those and telling people to comply with their orders or else they'll change the aim a bit. |
| ,,Two heads are better than one. Two heads sharing one body means trouble the size of Jupiter. So the next time you ask for a second AI, captain, I'm going to depressurize the bridge." - Said by a certain AI in control of a military ship who loves practical jokes. | |

| Hope they´ll manage to improve the development this time. Wing already sucked but Seed definitely took the cake. And what´s wrong with the colonies? That´s like Macross without Valkyries. BTW: Is this the wrong moment to mention that over here 00 is a brand name for a toilet cleaner? |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Somebody blow something up, I'm in a really bad mood. Thanks in advance. Current project: Star Trek - Odyssey | |
