| The fact is Devlin didnt want to be a part of the TV show so thats why that is all different, plus people who work on movies didnt want to work on TV back then. I read something a while back that the original idea for the Stargate trilogy back when the first came out was that Ferretti was going to be the central character. I really like the movie as well as both TV shows, at the moment I have mixed feelings as the TV shows are based on the movie but as has been stated there were some serious changes (ignoring the actors). Im going to wait and see what happens with it though, I think if its a good enough story I will be able to enjoy them and keep it seperate from the SG-1 universe. |

| Devlin didn't work on the TV show because it knew he was going to have a tiny budget, and have to deal with FOX, and we saw what happened when FOX had control, they inserted a "choosing a queen scene" to show some (censored) T and A and made up a rediculous replacement for Ra's race. I wouldn't have minded an actor change, but a character change went with it, O'Niell was care free and whimsical, not the confused suicidal tough guy we were presented in the film, and while that character did evolve to a happier state, he wasn't quite so nonsensical as the one TV gave us, which was mostly to give him a more likeable appeal to the avverage viewer. And while as a seperate entity his character was funny, it wasn't O'Neil, with one L. Daniel's character was left semi-unchanged, except for the character's willpower, Jackson from the film didn't have a great deal of it, he backed down alot throughout the film when asked to stand up, and was picked on by the soldiers. He did the unreasonable, emotion based things in the film, but in the series he was the most logical of the group, save Tealc. Kowalski was also a very much changed character for the all of two episodes he served (while the film actor was also a TV actor, and I think even appeared on stargate as someone else once or twice). He was more of a tough guy with a sad story rather than the energetic jerk from the film. Overall the character that carried over best was the one that had the same actor, and damn it I can't remember his name. The gould-jaffa-human relationship was also pretty rediculous, humans looked to Jaffa not as gods, but as enforcers (who wore chainmail with additional armor plating and yet still could be killed with a few rounds from a gun), who themselves viewed the gould as gods, and this really screwed things up with alot of contradictions and such. And the gate should have really dialed damn it. Okay, my rant is done. So what would one think if SGII were to enter simultaneous production with SG-1 the film (albeit I know this got turned into the season ender/opener for season 6, or was it 7) |

| it wont work. THe show as gain popularity that has surpass ANYTHING the firs t movie never accomplish. Russel was good, but such a character would never have worked on a TV show. the SG1 are already in the works for movies that would follow up on the Show instead of series. In my personnal opinion the show is ten time better then the movie was. the proof is it's 10 season life span realy, wich in TV term could only be matched by a movie series such as STar wars. |

| Newstwattie | My god Chemix, talk about necro post your own thread. Alain is right, there's no way a movie without the SG1 crew could ever work now. The character you're thinking of is Skara by the way, he's the only one played by the same actor in the film and TV series. |
| His Wife is a figment, he's married to his right hand, the twat. | |
