Need help fixing my laptop please

Basically it says:

'services.exe unable to locate component

This application has failed to start because MSVCP60.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.'

This came from me trying to install my camcorder drivers onto the system. It tells me to restart, so I do, and then everytime the windows xp load screen stops, it restarts.

Please help guys.

But where do all the calculators go?

Ain't nothin' over till it's over.

MSVCP60.dll is a Visual C runtime library and can be downloaded from a number of places, possibly even Microsoft Download Center

Edit... OK, so it's hard to find it in the download center... DLL-files.com - msvcp60.dll, free download

Many viruses replace the services.exe file its possible you may of been infected and your AV deleated the file... Run a repair install of windows.

Also film cameras running off firewire shouldnt need extra drivers.

If all else fails take the harddrive out back up the files you want to keep and reinstall windows anew...

That seems like overkill for a missing file. Checking the version of services.exe would prove if it was the real file or not

If it won't start up in safe mode, then you'll have to put the windows xp disk in and press 'r' to initiate the recovery console.

Try Kubuntu...

I like it as an alternative, I just haven't been able to make the switch cos if the incompatible software I use, even Wine (the Windows Emulator, not the drink!!! ) can't handle them...

For I dipt into the future, as far as human eye could see,
saw a vision of the world and the wonders that would be...
