| Administrator | BSG wins an Emmy (Finally!) I'm sure many of you already know but it's good to hear that Battlestar Galactica finally got an Emmy for the outstanding visual effects work they do. Personally I would have liked to have seen a few acting nominations for the excellent cast and definitely a nomination for best musical composition for a tv series but I'll settle with a much deserved Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series award. Details follow: OUTSTANDING SPECIAL VISUAL EFFECTS FOR A SERIES Battlestar Galactica - Exodus, Part 2 SCI-FI CHANNEL GARY HUTZEL, Visual Effects Supervisor MICHAEL GIBSON, Senior VFX Coordinator DOUG DREXLER, CG Supervisor ADAM “MOJO” LEBOWITZ, CGI Sequence Designer JEREMY HOEY, Lead Matte Painter TOM ARCHER, Lead Compositor ANDREW KARR, CGI Supervisor ALEC MCCLYMONT, Lead CGI Artist/ Animator BRENDA CAMPBELL, Lead Compositor |

| Better Dead Than Red | BSG was also up for Writing and Directing, but lost both to Sopranos ![]() the VFX Emmy is the first win for BSG, and as far as I know also the first for Skiffy too . . . |

| But he's not bitter, is he? ![]() Shall we have someone here whip up a 3D model of an Emmy award and make you some nice pics, Al? ![]() Dude, don't disparage. You'd be surprised who knows just how many people busted their humps for BSG's VFX. You and your fellow dungeon-mates, the poor saps who sit tirelessly at their computers and making an endless stream of "stuff" that you rarely-if-ever get credit for, are fully recognized by all of us here at SFM as the un-sung heroes of VFX everywhere. As much as do the team leaders on BSG, you deserve some praise and thanks for everything you've done. And perhaps that praise/thanks will come back to you in the form of a bonus check or something a little more useful than a dumb statue that will only collect dust on the mantle. And, hey, look at it this way, Alain: at least you don't have to engage in mortal combat with the team leads to figure out who's gonna take the trophy home. |

| Well that just takes all the fun out of it, doesn't it? I mean, I was fully prepared to sell tickets for that fight and now you tell me it's off due to a technicality like that? Dammit. I was gonna get rich off that brawl, too. Lucky bastards. |
