So, Constellation Class

Is it the top and bottom of an enterprise model saucer, or two tops?

It dosnt look like it has the "cutting into the ship" curve that the enterprises saucer underside has.

I've only really been looking into this ship for the last few days, and I know some of you will have a lot more experience with it.

So definately two tops then?

Bearing in mind the bottom image is from a kit of the ship, not the actual one from the show.

I have googled this ship a lot, which is why I asked the question, since one of the pages I found identified one of the saucer parts as an underside.

^ er, I think that model is upside down. Look at the registration it the wrong way around for underneath and the edge of the saucer tapers up not down.
This view shows that there are slight differences between the top and bottom. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/sc...stellation.jpg
You can see that the bottom curves out while the top curves in, and there are slight differences between the bridge and the sensor thing at the bottom. Looks like a modified top to me.

You know what it looks like to me?

Refit saucer top on the top, and original saucer top with refit bridge on the bottom.

Send a message via ICQ to psycho
i'm pretty sure that it's two refit tops. the top one sticks a bit more out, the bottom one has a nearly flat transition to the outer rim and a standard refit bridge dome on it, but without the bridge itself but a senser dome (dunno from which ship, maybe constitution, too) on it.

They seem different curves from the side, unless all the plans we see are way off.

I wouldnt trust any drawings period. I mean compare the bridge and sensor area the size alone is way off.
Star Trek: NCC2590 'Valkyrie' ('Stargazer' ??)
more photos of the thing. If it was a connine bottom there would be window holes (yeah they can putty em) and other molded bits specific to the lower saucer. (lots of grid line distrupting panels) and the lower saucer doesnt bulge then flatten like that.

note to slopes and the gridlines.

sadly a lot of resources for this ship are gone. Most of my links are dead.

We know it's not a connie bottom, but we are trying to work out if the bottom is a connie top.

This pic http://www.mjtsc.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/valk1l.jpg on the page Mad posted is actually the bottom of the constellation class not the top. This model has been refurbished for display and was refurbished wrong.

Yeah the bottom of the ship is the one with all the bulges and bits and peices.

At first glance it looks like another connie top, but original or refit?

I know its easy to take one look at the bridge, and assume the whole saucer is from the refit, but is it?

Sensor lines and aztecing could have been added later.

Besides, it was only the one in Picards ready room that was built from AMT model kits, the filming model was scratch built based on scalled up parts.
