Star Trek: The Next Generation...20 years ago today.

"Encounter at Farpoint" aired 20 years ago today. Star Trek The Next Generation has always been my favorite show, and the reason I got into visual effects and computer graphics.

Like many of you, my first CG renders were starships. Man, amazing how a show, in a small way (my career interests), can change the course of your life.

Anyway, I started this thread as a tribute, and you can read more about the 20th Anniversary here...

Ground breaking TV since the original from the 60's. I have to say I can't believe it's 20 years already.

I wonder what gimmick is going to be used to resell the episodes on DVD again for the 20th.

Yeah, great show. I've been re-watching a few of my favorite episodes lately and it still remains as my favorite Trek show.

It really didnt come into its own Until the 3rd season. The first two reaked of 80's ness and were a bit cheesy. And jezz how young (and thin) does Jonathan Frakes look lmao

When you love a pet, loosing it is like loosing a part of your soul. I lost part of mine on Feb 12 2008. Never will it be the same again.

I was 19 when TNG first aired over here in the UK, I came back from the pub pissed as a newt and laughed all the way through it. 'Look at that idiot with the cornish pasty stuck on his forehead'.

His Wife is a figment, he's married to his right hand, the twat.

I'm unusual in thinking that TNG's finest seasons were the first two. That was when the show was fun and there seemed to be a higher percentage of genuine sci-fi stories. Yes, it could be cheesy, yes, it could be goofy, but it was fun. As soon as season 3 came along, I found myself asking "where's the entertainment gone?" quite often.
