Auralia's Colors

I'm about 2/3 of the way through a new fantasy novel, Auralia's Colors, by Jeffrey Overstreet. Amazon.com link. Has anyone here read it yet?

It's a richly-textured book. Overstreet builds up a unique fantasy world, or I guess it's better to say a unique fantasy culture. He builds it up layer by layer, intrigue by intrigue. I'm fascinated by it, and I can't wait to find out how it ends. Tho, it's the first part of a trilogy, so I may not find out how it ends even by the end of the book.

I hate know-it-all waif-child girl heroines, but Auralia seems real, grounded, though innocent. You feel for her.

Overstreet's writing is gorgeous at parts, and he sculpts his world with a careful touch. It's hard to believe this is his first novel.

I really like it. Anyone read it, and want to talk about it?
