Wink Colonial Battlestar Construction

Does anyone know how long it took the colonials to build certain military assets, such as vipers? defenders? Mercury Class Battlestars? smaller Battlestars? Battlestar Valkyrie?

If this information has been noted somewhere could someone please direct me to it.

Thank you.

you kinda have to treat them the same way our carriers in the US are built. If the Battlestars at least the ones that were involved in the first cylon war were indeed the first of there kind or at least of that size, then it would have taken a significant amount of time to build the beast. The first ship to be floated out of the dock probably would have taken at least a few years to complete. especially if the battlestars were being built prior to the cylon war. Given there size reaching that of a stardestroyer. and we know that after forty years they had a significant number of them. I would say it took roughly four- five years for the first one or two ships. Later the time probably went down to a year as the war began to escalate. We don't know when Galactica was built but considering her history was most likely built during the height of the war and particapated in most major battles. After the war the colonials obviously built more battlestars of different varieties probably smaller ones to fill the gap of other colonial designs that proved ineffective during the cylon war. These smaller battlestars probably took a year to several months to build depending on how productive there shipbuilding technology was. The Bigger battlestars like the Pegasus were more likely recent designs.

I would say during peace time Battlestars took several years to finish. roughly 3 to 4 years.

Smaller battlestars probably took at least a few months to a year roughly 2.

The newer class probably enjoyed faster production rate despite the peace before the 2nd attack. However were probably limited to 3- 4 years

During wartime this would be shortened to 2 years give or take. several months for the smaller vessels.

Again we don't know how productive the colonials were at ship building.

I could imagine them building swarms of smaller battlestars to fill the gap until a new larger battlestar was able to be put to service. That would explain the high number of battlestars lost in the first engagement of the 2nd attack.

So like the US which has a large number of super carriers. The Colonials probably also had a large amount of battlestars (super galactica models and pegasus)

Like the US the colonials may have had smaller battlestars in the roles of escort carriers or similar roles and probably played similar roles like the smaller carriers escort of the US

The Galactica would be the equivilent of the US super carrier USS Enterprise which will retire in about several more years. like the Enterprise the Galactica is a vetren of several battles and conflicts during and after the cylon war and is very popular and well known in the colonies. like the Enterprise. Like the Enterprise when she is finally retired and made into a museum the Galactica is most likely being retired so her position in the fleet is replaced by a newer model battlestar. Technically the Galactica during her decommishing cermony would have been stricken off the regestry of the Colonial fleet. Meaning she's no longer part of the navy.

The Pegasus model of Battlestars are probably similar to the Super Carriers that are in service to the US fleet. which are extremely powerful vessels high tech and capable of performing almost any role given to them.

Behold our fleets and armies, mighty, proud, and alert. over 6.7 billion soldiers to lead at my command. May the gods show mercy to my enemies that face me for I shall show none. Maverick Eagle Leader of the Terran Alliance Army at the battle of Alliance Gate

you lot VASTLY underestimate how long it takes to get even a small real-world warship into service.

JDR: They arent questioning how long it takes to get them into service, they are asking how long the production time is. ****, it can take a super carrier 1-3 years to be built but another year or so to be put into service. Lots *LOTS* of tests, trials, tribulations, all kinds of **** that needs to be done before they goto battle.

I've seen warships (modern) built in 1.5 years and seen them in service 4 months later. It can be done quickly. Depends on requirements and demand for them.

Assuming, of course, that you're not building first of class. Then the leads times are significantly longer.

Not that I know anything about constructing warships. Unlike you lot.

Apathetic bloody forum. I've no sympathy at all....
