| Halo Movie Dead Some of you have probably heard about this already but for those who haven't - the Halo movie project is officially DEAD, as declared by Neill Blomkamp. IGN: Halo Declared Dead 'Halo' Movie is Officially Dead - Cinematical I can't say I'm at all surprised, given the state of the movie business is in nowadays, with so many materials and alternatives out there, who would want to commit to such a big project monetarily that could make of break those involved in it? Truth be told, I wasn't that confident in Blomkamp's approach to the source material either, after seeing his Halo shorts and his depiction of the Halo mythology. Maybe in the near future (hopefully) someone credible enough whom the studios are also comfortable with can have the balls to take on the project. Mind you, Peter Jackson may even be willing to direct the movie himself, if he's not "tired". |

IMO the studios would rather prefer throwing chunks of money into franchases that were successful AND proven like The Terminator, Die Hard etc. Take T3, it was the most expensive movie at the time and obviously it wasn't as good as the first 2 there's no denying about that, but it still made a s**t load of money in theaters and from the merchandises. At the end of the day it's all about business and there's simply too many unforseeable risks in committing to a project as big as Halo, regardless of how many fans out there wanting it to be made, this just won't cut it. | |

| Is Baaaaack... | More likely culprit is the split between Bungie and Microsoft. Microsoft owns the Halo IP, but there could be various termination clauses in their contracts that would have allowed Bungie to nuke the project on the way out. |

| SFM Obsessed | You didn't think that they wouldn't make a follow up for the fastest selling game of all time did you? ![]() MS still own a small stake in Bungie and Bungie have a long term contract to create more Halo games for MS. MS are the IP holders and so could terminate the contract and go with someone else, but why would they cut the throat of a company they have a vested interest in? |
