Fires in Southern California, everybody OK? - Scifi-Meshes.com

Hey all,

Most of you probably know now that there are quite a few fires down here causing evacuations. There are several members living in Socal, just wanted to know if everybody's ok.

I'm okay. Got to stay home from work today...!

Some of my students' families are not as lucky, however. (I teach at Salinas Elementary School in San Bernardino.) As of yesterday, several had been evacuated and at least one had lost their home.

Nar I'm in the Playa Vista area right now, no problems here other than the sky looks a lil funny. My coworker, however, his family's in San Diego. They were evac'd last night. He had trouble reaching them because the cellular network was overloaded. (That's what prompted me to post here...)

From what I have seen the place of my birth is bathing in smoke... I am glad that I moved out of that state when I was a young kid.

This is the 3rd firestorm i've been through. Luckily this time I haven't had to evacuate. But the fires down here in SD are easily the biggest in the county's history. nearly 400,000 people have been displaced and about 600-700 homes is and businesses torched. If you've never been in a firestorm imagine this- a hurricane with fire.

yea... where I'm at (downtown Riverside) the smoke/ash is not as bad as 2 years ago, but (as I said above) it's bad in SBD where I work, and I was looking at the firewatch reports last night... man, that's a lot of fires, lot of people moved.

	* When they broke open molecules, they found they were only stuffed with atoms, But when they broke open atoms, they found them stuffed with explosions.
