the problem is that many of you are right.
i mean... giving live to book characters is a good idea but it could end bad.
reboot star trek is good but what about cannon?
going too deep in the future could make that star trek losses it sense. i mean that we would not have anything to hook up with.
i think that a new series should be carried out, but it should be free of any of the other star trek shows characters or mention. It would be necesary to make this serie kind of a reboot itself but without taking the spirit of star trek away ... star trek is not about war, or fight, o spionage; is about explore. It is very common to be sucked up in a conflict even a war but that would not be the main plot ur the sense of the series, is something that could be in a background. there is a problem star trek is out of main enemys... starfleet is in peace with every big enemy it had, so we need to scale a new conflict go to another secto or do something radical, so to wash star trek face i thing we need a new enemy and a new hero most of the blockbuster films have a chosen one. is not a bad idea but star trek is not about that even so it could be good that something happen to a main character that would convert him in some kind of choosen a mistical element could be used. remember that the quantum theory is so close to magic it allow people to use thoughts to change almost everythin. but we cant go too deep in it because it wont be star trek and would be more likely star wars force stuff. So i think all of us know that the actual audience an fans want in all other the tvs shows, so we have to pull it to star trek, we all know that star trek is about so we cant go very far away of this idea. But we cant keep going with flat chapters with tons of technobable that new audience would not understant and would find it boring, so we need a new series with strong captain and first officers ( in ds9 and voyager and enterprise the best characters were not the captain and the first officers, in ds9 we had dax, quark, garak, worf as the strong chraracters, in voyager we had the doctor, 7of9, belana and tom parris, in the enterprise show the strong characters were trip, tpol, the doctor) the other characters need to have less attention so remember the kirk spock mccoy formula. they were the main characters and most of the chapters surrounded them. Star trek is not a western and althought is not a diplomatic series so we need a balance. we have to think what maked BSG and SG so popular nowdays and put those things in star trek.

it seems to me that we are losing Mr. rodenberrys pitcher for star trek in that we have been looking at it from only one point of view and that is from the federations history we need to see the history of thier allies and enemies as well.

You people don't know what your missing according to him if you don't see the model it WONDERFULLY well done and insured for a lot of green, (no amount mentioned just that remake) and will blow you away when you see it if you get the chance!
