| SFM Nugget | Well, wasn't one of ideas that were in the air before Enterprise something like Starfleet Inteligence? I don't think it should be completely without exploring, and it surely be more dark than TNG. But seriously, what you can explore in 24th century setting? Almost all galaxy is known, Federation more powerfull than ever before, the only serious enemy is Borg, but with handy diplomacy and couple friends (and bunch of technobabbles) even Borg can be defeated. Maybe it's way too much against Roddenberry's ideas about utopia and everything, but IMO the only original idea is Starfleet Inteligence and only logical plot is civil war and Federation reborn. It was Roddebnerry who was behind Andromeda plot, don't forget. EDIT: sorry, I'm not exactly a native speaker... |

| Worldwide Phenomenon | Nope. Don't think that'd work, even if you could somehow gather all the intellectual property under the same ownership and fit five big showrunner type of writers in the same team. It's a niche market at best, and the production costs would be astronomical even before they modeled a single pre-viz shot. Out of curiosity though, why? I mean, obviously some thought went into this idea, since it's a long post and quite detailed, but why insist on these crossovers? Wouldn't it be more useful to channel all that creative energy into something fresh, new and original (but nothing too original, since this is Hollywood, right )? Why would you want to shoot your story in the kneecaps with all those extra franchises, given all 40 odd years of baggage Trek carries just by itself? |

| Pokemon, while i appreciate your...enthusiasm...please try and keep your posts on topic. B5/ST crossovers may be fun in a book, but it will NEVER happen while Paramount still owns ST rights...Another Delta Quadrant series is impractical unless they stabilize the Ferengi wormhole (TNG/VOY)... Try and think about what Paramount would be willing to fund. A convoluted series wouldnt not make any economic sense, no one would watch it. Practically speaking, IF there is another Star Trek Series, it would: 1) Follow ST: XI in story, plot or character development; 2) Follow Nemesis in story, plot or character development; (i.e. Titan, New Ent E, Voy, etc; unlikely, but possible) OR 3) Try and create a brand new series based on a previous success; which could be: A) A mirror universe series, with an occasional crossover to ST (highly unlikely) B) A series following the forming of the Federation, following the events of the Ent finale (pretty unlikely, considering Ent's cancellation, but who knows?) C) An Ent. B series, w/ C Harriman, considering they already have a bridge crew, and can re-sign actors (pretty unlikely) D) A Vulcan series, detailing the re-emergence of the Original Teachings of Surek; post-Archer (must include a very young Sarek and Amanda) [practically impossible] ![]() E) A series detailing the evolution of the Klingon Empire, following the adventures of the IKS Kahless and their Gungan slave (JarJar deserves it ) [NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS]So while discussion and ideas are welcomed, I plead that you (plural) dont get too carried away. If paramount wont think of it, it aint happening. I still like my Klingon idea tho |

| I'd post my ideas for a new show but they pretty much all boil down to young Captain, big ass new super powerful ship, and war with Section 31 So I won't do that, cause it stupid. (made this up in my teens, looking back, wtf was I thinking, I'm not motivated enough to make up something new right now) Anyway, the Trek XI is gonna be a bust, I'm hating it already, don't do a prequel with existing characters, played by different actors, it's bad. As for a new show, I dunno, if one is done, it has to be done right, the problem is define right. ToS, TNG, most of Voy, and the first part of DS9 were all episodic in nature, ever episode a new adventure, with only little hints of continuation. Then enter the latter part of DS9, the whole Domion War arc, that took the whole show in a different direction, whole of Trek in a different direction. Where am I getting at with this, well the point is which of the two is the correct direction to take Trek? That's gonna be a hard decision to make, a lot of trekkies will say to go episodic, because that was the strength of those shows, but is that what the average scifi viewer wants these days? If the resent shows show anything (SG1, Atlantis, BSG) most people seem to prefer longer arced storylines. An other question we need to ask is, does the concept of the Trek universe still work? Trek portrays a universe where mankind, after a devastating 3rd World War, and an encounter with an alien race, transforms into a utopic society, where money and greed do not exist anymore. But is that still a believable future, because even if it is fictional, there has to be some sense of believability in it,and currently to me, it's not there. Humanity to me, is a species that like the Klingons, has always warred, for land, for food, for mates, for resources, for power, it started with our earliest ancestors, and continues to this day. Even if Earth is united, what stops a despots or fantatics rising up, and taking worlds out of Earths reach, starting their own little empire. That why I was happy that S31 appeared, to show that that darker side of humanity wasn't gone. So is that still a realistic view to portray, humans living all happy together in utopia, or does Star Trek need to embrace it's darker side to survive? These to me are the questions you must as if you want to start a new trek show. |

| wel, i thought section 31 in enterprise was seriously retarded. they coulda been involved, that it was an "official" starfleet op that no one knew about. Having a guy in a leather jacket was just like "wtf???". When they tried to recruit bashir in late ds9, THAT was done well. It was supposed to be a little off, an almost perfect holoprogram. Sec 31 need to be approached very cautiosly. and GR is prob rolling in his grave about sec 31 ![]() Im expecting ST XI to die at the box office, but hopefully ill be proved wrong. |
