New Series: Star Trek Titan or Other?

After Darksaber announced that John Eaves was going to be building a 6' Titan based on his design, which Masterjedi had modeled, http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/3...uss-titan.html it spawned a discussion on whether or not there should be a new Star Trek series based on Captain Riker and the USS Titan.

You can BS enough stuff, and the audience wont buy it. But if they do a new series, its gotta be new. Voyager is a lone ship isolated from home by half a galaxy; TNG is a flagship preventing crisis after crisis, and DS9 is a strategic space station that becomes vital during the war. What can they do with a new series that is orignal, AND creative?

I would be happy with a post-endgame Voyager movie, if it was done well. i would be happy with any new trek if its done well
What do you think? Should they make another show after XI? Or is Star Trek dead and buried and should stay that way?

I would love for either Titan or a new series based in the 25 century so it can start new again like they did with TNG. With TNG, DS9 and VOY all set in the same timeline, it's maybe time for a new ship and crew to step in (and make damn sure Brannon and Braga aren't even aloud on the Paramount lot)

but Gene's vision was to go forward, not backward so I don't think a TOS era show would work, they tried going in the past with Enterprise and it didn't work.

I don't think Star Trek is dead in the water. I think if the next movie gets a good showing in Movie Theaters. John Eaves and Paramount should start another Star trek series. I for one miss watching Star Trek on TV and watching reruns on Spike TV is getting old. Its been a few years since ST-ENTERPRISE series has ended and I think its time for a new ST series.
But I don't think it should be a series based on this upcoming movie. The next TV series should be based in the ST post TNG era after ST-NEMESIS. Doing a series on the USS Titan and Capt.Riker, I not to sure if this can be done. There has been a bunch of novels on the USS Titan and it would be up to Jonathan Frakes if he wanted to reprise his role as William Riker. I can see a movie series based off the USS Titan, but not a TV series.

Then you got to look at the Star Wars franchise. George Lucas is making a Live TV series based in between SW-EPIII and EPIV and The New animated Clone Wars TV series.
Right now is the perfect time to Start a new Star Trek TV series since the two Star Wars TV series are coming. I don't know about everyone else but I'm big fan of Star Trek and Star Wars and it would be cool to see these two franchises on TV together.

I am all for Trek coming back to the small screen. but has to be set after Nemesis. some time after it, say 50 to 100 years.

I was referring to the concept, I want to move forward juat as next as the next man....I would like to see somethign akin to TOS, in that it is more about the exploration than anything, and yes Titan was like that, but it seemed a little to.... forced for me

My only fear is they might mess it up again. Enterprise had a great premise, but it changed too much TOS canon to stick with fans. Add that to poor ratings and the show was canceled. Despite cheesy and dated effects, (Star Trek's 10 Cheesiest Classic Creatures) TOS was (relatively) well written (even though some dialogue was a bit stupid). The story was fairly good, and it was Gene Roddenberry's vision that made it such a classic.

I think a Titan series would be interesting, but i doubt it would be practical. A few good movies can go a long way to Star Trek back to TV.

What can they do to make us fall in love with Star Trek all over again?

Reality TV also had alot to do with Star Trek-Enterprise being cancelled as well, since reality TV was the big thing back then. (Reality TV sucks )
