'Sunshine', did ya like it?

Just got it on DVD and have to say I really enjoyed it, although the third act sort of went off the rails with the whole Captain Pinbacker thing. I found it very moving and thought all the performances were excellent. I sort of have the feeling I am in the minority in liking it and have a feeling the fans of more action oriented sci-fi would not be fond of it. I'm curious as to what you guys thought of it.

Wouldn't cross the road to see it.

The sun is dying so they're going to use a... nuclear bomb... to re-ignite it?!

So whoever wrote that shizer-pile gets a from me.

They actually came up with this idea of a Q-ball. Q-ball refers to a type of non-topological soliton. A soliton is a localized field configuration that is stable—it cannot spread out and dissipate. In the case of a non-topological soliton, the stability is guaranteed by a conserved charge: the soliton has lower energy per unit charge than any other configuration. (In physics, charge is often represented by the letter "Q", and the soliton is spherically symmetric, hence the name.)

I have no idea what that last paragraph means, but the physicist on the commentary track seems confident that said Q-ball would neatly plug up any plot hole regarding the sun dying 5 billion years too soon. However I'm sure Commander Data would be able to simply fix it with a well placed tachyon pulse.

Honestly, my wife and I both thought it was one of the worst sci-fi movies we have ever seen. We turned it off about 2/3rds the way thru.

Premise was rediculous... story was boring and tedious....lighting was unnessarily dark in many spots.

2hrs I'll never get back.

well..first bit is "ok"..then if goes all down...it gets dramatic WAY to quickly. That whole thing about the dude from the other ship been all burned and never been able to see him!...totaly lame. It looks like the writer decide to leave sci-fi to go Horror on the third act.

When you love a pet, loosing it is like loosing a part of your soul. I lost part of mine on Feb 12 2008. Never will it be the same again.

Well that just described all of the 2000 movies of a good number of people.

Seriously though the reduced lighting and complaints about it probably stem from the sheer lack of dark scenes in movies anymore and people simply expect to see everything in a movie.

Sometimes the worst opponent is the one closest, yet ignorant of the truth.

Best part of the movie was the ship. Very cool design and well shown. Inside and out.

The thought of the bomb having any effect on the sun was kinda dumb. And the fact that there was gravity all around the ship when only a couple parts were spinning was dumb too.

All in all, It was interesting, but not amazing.
