Flash player 8 problem...

Ok, so obviously I have a problem running Flash 8 or whichever is the newest version for streaming video on the net. Whenever I come across a streaming link on the net that requires the Flash player codec nothing plays. It says to go to the Adobe site and download the latest version- which did. 3 times. And at the end of the installation their flash movie plays saying I have installed it successfully. When I got back to view the streaming media I still get a stupid blank and a link saying I should go download the latest version... see my problem? Anyone on this board have an idea as to how I can fix this??

Uninstall the FP (completely, even from the registry), restart PC, install, restart again, try.

If this fails, give your PC:
a) a hug and buy a new one.
b) a kick in the butt (don't ask me, where your PC has its butt) and reinstall Windaft.

You can also try both, but then in reversed order.
And if they fail: Inform the Flash-Player support of a bug. :P

Start -> Execute -> "regedit"
Window opens, an registration editor (REGistration EDITor). Hit F3 to open search menu.
Type in what you want to be searched and hit enter.
The search engine will automatically jump to the next entry, so keep searching until it says 'nothing found'. (It may take some times, but it's searching, you wouldn't believe, how big the registry is..)
After you're done and everything is erased, restart PC so that the changes get accepted.

Also make sure you look for the producer. Don't only seek Flash Player but also Macromedia (they are the creator aren't they?) and Adobe (you mentioned it, though I don't know what they would have to do with MM Flash Player).

BUT be careful! Since Adobe also distributes Acrobat reader/writer and you will most likely have one or both installed, make sure you don't delete the keys to these programs! Otherwise you will have to reinstall them as well. Same counts for Macromedia; they also produce several other things you might probably have.

Actually, Macromedia got bought out by Adobe about a year, maybe more, ago. It's been Adobe Flash for sometime now.

Flash9 is the most recent iteration.

aha, well then, so be it. I did not know this, I'm not up to date with MM-stuff.

So seek for both entries.
