Funny how people complain about Starbuck being made a chick when nobody seems to mind that Adama has been made Hispanic, Tigh has been made white, etc etc. Nobody has the balls to bring up racial issues, but gender issues - open season. So much for feminism.

If they'd kept it all the same then it'd have been the SAME series as the original. Get over it.

Trek is different though because unlike the original BSG, which was a load of crap, Trek was actually GOOD and people have every right to complain about such iconic characters being recast as well as the Original Trek being retreaded to make a quick buck.

With Galactica they wanted to use the great concept of the original more intelligently, which is what they did.

I'll probably watch this, as I have all Trek. But I'd be much happier if they stopped recycling old characters and ideas and started actually making something new and original, instead of giving CPR to some very old stuff.

Hey, they replaced the character played by Lloyd Bridges with Ensign Ro from Trek! How can you ever get over that one?!

I totally agree with you on that.

that ture, BSG has not played as big part of peoples lives as Trek has, and that why people are so fond of it and get pissed when people want to change things.

True, you can't compare re-imagined BSG with what they're trying to do with Trek.
Until the re-imagined version came along, BSG was a small (compared to Trek) show, with a much smaller fan base then Trek. In addition, after it stopped airing, it literally stopped - again, unlike Trek which continued to grow over time, spawning several shows and a 10 motion pictures. As a result, BSG's fan base was relatively small and it's universe was nowhere near as developed as Trek's, which enabled today's authors to create a totally new BSG which is a new product, loosly based on the original's plot, but with so many things changed you can really call it a brand new show.
Star Trek is different and they shouldn't touch old Trek such as TOS - it's a SciFi classic, too well established to mess around with.
Besides, Trek can't grow on recycled old stuff - they'll ruin it this way. Either come up with something new and original, or let it rest until someone more creative comes along.

Janice Rand is supposed to be a teenager.

She's more likely to be Nurse Chapel.
