New Line Gets Assimilated by Warner Borg

New Line Cinema, which has been a subsidiary of Time Warner Inc. since 1996, has now been merged with Warner Bro. Studios, in an effort to save money. Many jobs will be laid off, (of course) and Bob Shaye has been given the boot!

Time Warner (foermerly AOL-Time Warner) is the holding corporation for the three major brands AOL, Time Inc' and Warner Bros', with Warner Bros' being the most universally recognised component.

I think you're getting your wires crossed with Columbia-Tristar, which is owned by Sony Pictures.

hehe, the other main brands owned by Time Warner are HBO and Turner Broadcasting (CNN, Cartoon Network etc'.).

New Line has been wholly owned by Time Warner for some time now, so I very much doubt we'll see massive changes from an entertainment point of view- it's probably just a convenient way to justify offloading some overpaid fat cats.

I've been looking at the list of what TW owns, and it just keeps going, and going.

"We are Time Warner. You will be assimilated! Your technological and creative distinctiveness will be lost, as you will become part of US. RESISTANCE. IS. FUTILE!!!"

You get the drift...Small company has good idea, makes a lot of money. Doesn't have the financial resources to continue promoting that creative idea, so they sell out to big company. Big company is bought by Huge Conglomerate. Creativity gets thrown out the window in the search for a bigger bottom line. Cycle repeats...
