Ahh so why can't they make something with a new ship in it ? Sure Enterprise is the icon of the star trek but reusing the same design over and over again only with more polygons is just boring for me. A new sleek and futuristic ship would no doubt make the movie appeal to new audience ...

that would be like having a woman play james bond when they made casino royale, just so it could appeal to a new audience

I pity the fool!

Which wouldn't have made it any better/worse.

Seriously they should've done something else besides yet another ST reboot....

While I'd admit that the old Enterprise design is seriously outdated to appeal to the general audience nowadays if it is indeed to be adopted into ST:XI, IMO Gabe's design is the perfect example in that they should at least follow the general shape and streamline it and add some extra bits to it to sort of make it on par with today's sci-fi design conventions, much like the re-imagined Galactica.

I don't know. "Jane Bond" sounds just as sexy as the male counterpart!

I just think the new enterprise will have a more sleeker look to it, Not all the way TMP enterprise, but you can see the evolution into the refit design

I think that it would be more like changing Bond's car , not the Bond. The ship is there only to accompany the actors. They were able to do that with the series ... heck, they even did it in the movies when they replaced the old Enterprise with Ent-E. Sure it shared the base concept with the original but it was like a totally new ship. I just want something similar to that. But it won't happen until another series or movie so let's leave that topic

So presumably you missed all the bad comments about Bond driving a BMW and then a Ford instead of the Aston then? The Enterprise in Trek is almost a character. Without that ship it won't feel the same to the ravening hordes of Trekkies, Trekkers or whatever they call themselves!
