Firefox v3 rc1

Just found out about the new version. So I'm wondering what types, if any, problems the early adopters are having!

Occasionally it has trouble finding a page. That's the worst thing, so far. About half of my add-ons still work - which is better than average.

I've been using it with OSX Tiger. I haven't loaded it on Windows yet.

Memory porker, and crashes when I leave the SFM flash on. (it saves the tabs or tries to haven't had it fail yet. And I do not like the text slection method always selecting things in a manner I do not want wont scroll select and I cannot use the stop button to halt animated gifs EXP those really annoying ones.

Easy as picking your nose addons make up for all this and well I FINALLY got flash working on my xp64 box without using IE7 so Im happy. The lockout for loading older scripts sux though.
Oh it does override site styles some like buttons and interfaces, it blends with the clients theme more than the site so these forums the attachments menus are all different looking. It's lack of persistence on loading slow sites is a changeable option. Intergration of other apps. EMAIL for example. I dont want my email in anyway associated with my client the "send image" feature is annoying in it auto loads outlook, there is no option for NO app. Would be nice. Final gripe is saving non English files on my laptop. turns all the sjis into _________ dunno what is with that. YET. heh. I think some autoconfig is broke.

I was using beta versions of 3 for a while since I got impatient in waiting for it since IE6 was becoming a issue with flash based sites, code would crash the app, I think this is being done on purpose to force IE7 adoption -_-

SO all of these grips it is still better than IE and FAR better than any prior FF I have tried. the 200mb or ram is a bit horrid for websites but eh one could say 200mb out of 3gigs what does it matter ne?

So well, Im sold on it.

Thanks Mad!

I think I'll wait till next version then. FF2 sucks up to much ram, but no way do I want it to suck up even more!!

Well I find it is consistent no matter the amount of open windows so I wonder if it isnt some reserve thing. IE ate about 30 to 40mb just for sfm. I ran seprate instances so upload ans save settings would point to different directories for ease sake (ff doesnt do this since it wont run multiple instances) ATM it is 193mb so shrug I should compare to the laptop. later on. OH and it stays there FF2 would grow and grow over time. I rarely shut the pc down and often leave html clients open for weeks at a time.

Flash has been a problem since day 1 for FF, but with 3RC1 it seems that the memory leak has gone though the memory usage remains high. 80MB on my work machine with SFM open in RC1 whereas IE 6 uses 40MB... Mind you, just noticed that the drop down author info on the header doesn't work in IE6, so the Flash component is probably less intensive than in FF

My FF2 has been randomly crashing for the last week or so, which is a new thing.

Hmmm, amusingly, if I fire up the page in IE tab, which should be using the IE6 page rendering engine and Flash component, then I get the roll over author box... Just not working in actual IE6. Got to love web technologies...

I've been using FF2, 12 sfm tabs resulted in about 190MB. The same tabs with FF3 take up only 140MB.

Leave them both overnight and see what happens. I can guarentee that FF2 will be using a lot more than 190MB!
