Yes, the use of low level warp fields to help sublight engines drive the biggest starships is a bit ambiguous as per the Tech Manual and the diverse technobabble fan-written analyses. It's all a bit silly, anyway, being so easy to blow a sun up these days.

That's the explanation I was hoping for...

small note.."STAR TREK AIN'T REAL..don't try to make sens of it..they changed the laws of physics every freaking show to suit their script

When you love a pet, loosing it is like loosing a part of your soul. I lost part of mine on Feb 12 2008. Never will it be the same again.

And that's our complaint

I was trying to think of any TV series and movies that do things consistently. Did Babylon-5 any blatant mistake during its run?

Of course it's not real.
But it's fun picking on small things/inconsistencies and see what would actually make sense within the confines of the established canon.

It's a good pass time anyway on rare occasions.

We are who we choose to be and make art that defines us, but there are numerous aspects of our individuality we are born with and are an integral part of what makes us human.

I don't know first hand but I do vaguely remember some discusison about some 'wtf??' moments from the fans. I seriously doubt there's a scifi show that hasn't commited an ugly inconsistency.

Little things are always going to happen. But you'd think by 2008, "Nuking the Fridge' would be extinct. Hollywood writing is in a sad state. I imagine that'll always be the case until audiences get choosier.

[quote=Mauiman;331714]Perhaps the principle of a shotgun shell loaded with a slug on it. the slug is aside from the gun powder not powered and it is launched at such a high velocity that it can do some considerable damage to what ever it is hitting. So it can be very devastating.[/QUOTE/]

As with all weapons the Borg would somply adapt. Once the information was processed and the Colective mad its determination The borg body armor would become more dense or infact change to suit the attack. The theroy behind the borg is that they take any form of attack until they figure out how to counter it.

and plus its makes for a good story line drama build up to see Cpt. Picard holden the trigger down and letting lead fly.

If you look really close in that episode, those were not really Borg attacking Picard! If you do some freeze frames you can see that they are just humans in really good costumes. They are a few of the humans that are big fans of the Borg and want to join but just didn't cut it. So they dress up as Borg and just try to tag along; "resistance is futile" and all of that stuff. So when they got shot in the holodeck it was just a few stupid humans getting shot is all.

And that's why the shields didn't 'work' for them...
