^ By this continued logic then you should be able to destroy anything with a Hologram emitter. Therefore what the hell would be the need for Phasers and torpedos if a projector can create the object inside enemey defensive sheilds abd hulls? (Me am Bored too)

Honestly the most effective weapon for fighting borg I've see outside of species 842 orwhatever the hell they're called is Janeway's Transphasic torpedos and Ablative armor. Talk about unfair advantage, the torpedo is out of phase until it passes the ships hull and then materalizes and explodes HA freakin classic.

Simon Abrams: Ok...These things are seriously impairing my ability to think rationally.
Dana Crutchfield: What?

If you deployed a hologram emitter in outer space, the borg cube would just destroy it

The "Holographic Penetration Theory" (yes, im still bored ) only gives an advantage over a drones personal shield. The body armor can still resist bullets to some degree, and the shield can most likely adapt eventually, by preventing the forcefield from activating within the shield. Another method of defeating the Borg is beaming torpedoes on board near critical areas. Transport a couple next to an engine room, and watch that sucker get blown to kingdom-come! Do it fast enough and they wont even know what hit them!!!

How come federation ships aren't outfitted with non energy based projectile weapons in the first place? Load up a few security teams with a few machine guns and mow down Borg like grass on a lawn... problem solved.

Borg cube shields are also designed to protect against antimatter explosions. So.... why not outfit ships with battleship type cannons that fire shells that explode with conventional explosives on impact? A few key shots with a 16in exploding shell such as those fired from Iowa class battleships would do alot of damage. Granted it would take many shots to destroy a Borg cube, but it would cut down the amount of ships needed to defend against them. If these projectiles traveled at a few thousand KPH, they would tear through the cube's hull. It would also save photon and quantum torpedo reserves.

What does everyone think?
Forgive me if this has been said...

In a book (non cannon yes but it is the only place it is said) a spec ops team using projectial weapons (vulcan, human ect) engaged the BORG, now while they were affective the BORG was about to adapt to the Vulcan weapon quickly... this suggests that their shields are not limited to energy weapons...

However the way a gun works it is never the same power more then once, so a MG would in fact be a good weapon. But would we think of using a bow and arrow to take down a bad guy that is protected by body armour? (and yes a long bow will penatrate modern body armour. (well 70's anyway that was the one that was used) and a Long bow can fire from deep cover (say the otehr side of a hill and never be seen) and could take out anything that is not a tank or armoured car...

we have moved on past bows and arrows and so starfleet has moved on pased big ass guns... they would not work when fighting the dominion say!
