| Amazing CG shot from BSG Since I got into 3D animation work, I've been trying to reproduce shots like on Battlestar Galactica. At least, trying to learn techniques and improve my skills to go in that direction. And one of the questions I always had was whether it was possible to do interior cockpit shots with entirely CG cockpits. That's because on Battlestar Galactica, all those shots of the cockpits are composited in with the CG. So they'll have a CG Viper model with a CG pilot, and as they zoom in, they transition to a composited shot, with a real full scale Viper, and the actor in it, so basically only the Viper is CG, but the cockpit is all a real full scale physical model. However, I just listened to the Podcast on episode 411 "The Hub" and at the end, Ron Moore says the shot of (spoiler if you have not seen this episode) ------------------ Adama looking out of the Raptor cockpit towards the Base Star----------------end of spoiler Was a completely CG shot. CG Raptor interior, CG cockpit, CG screens, looking onto a CG base star in the distance. Well, this answered my question, and showed me that indeed it is possible to do interior and cockpit shots fully in CG and make it look realistic. Of course, you gotta be one hell of a modeler and get the lighting well to pull it off. But man, that's crazy. I honestly would have never known it was a CG shot until I heard RDM tell us it was. And that's when you know CG is really good, when you cant tell the difference between a CG shot and a live action plate shot. I'll attach a few screens to show you what I'm talking about |

| Is Baaaaack... | Little known fact: they've been doing Bill Adama fully in CG since the start of Season 3. Olmos was sick of the grind of live-action, now all he does is sit down with a pocket recorder and read his dialog, after which the animators take over. Seriously! |

| Administrator | Man.. imagine being the artist assigned to model him, but the studio wouldn't spring for a copy of ZBrush. Heh. |
