He was closer to reality in the books. Bond is based on Flemings own work as a secret agent in the war, so it was grounded in reality at the start, and the new films are closer to the character of the books than the films. There have been some good Bond films, a few great ones and a load of less-than-average films in the series. Casino Royale was a great way to get Bond back closer to its roots and at least this time they are continuing the same story so you should have more of a feeling of what is driving him this time around too

I cant wait for this Bond. With the reboot, Bond has finally become watchable again. You can connect with Bond in Casino Royal on a human level and that makes the movie far more appealing to watch.

Over the last decade before Bond had become so Teflon coated and inhuman that the movies were just bad, there was no real story behind any of them anymore and they were relegated to C class movies with $100 million budgets. If they decide to keep Bond the way they have have him now, and have him grow from film to film I think they can really start something great again.

I think Bond needs to be scared by him work and hold on to things instead of just being a brainwashed goon, kind of like John Clark is in the first few Clancy books he is in before Clancy started writing pure propaganda and lost him literary touch.

"You have chosen to rebuild what we once deemed destroyed. Now you come to take what we have claimed as our own. We will defend our selves with all our might. We have no desire to fight but if we must, we will do so with all our heart. Leave us be or face the wrath that once so nearly wiped the slate clean. For this time we shall finish what Alarious so long ago started."

My god YES! I have actually not watched Casino Royal, and chances are I wont see this one ether. If I want a gritty in your face espionage movie I'll watch the Bourne series as they are far superior to the new bond reboots. The whole bond thing going rouge has been done before and far better then the likes of this...

rouge = red

rogue = what you mean

As with every movie, some people will like it, some won't. I loved Roger Moore's Bond when I was a kid, but watching a lot of the films from his era makes me cringe now my tastes are more adult. I think that's why I enjoyed Dalton's first outing, though they gave him nothing worth working with after that. Brosnan was a great Bond, but the stories had become overshadowed by the technology; something that happens quite a lot in modern movies unfortunately

By vertue of not seeing any of the Bourne movies after the first one, I now feel qualified to make the same claim in reverse.

Casino Royale is easily better than the two movies I havent seen.

To me Bond will always be Connery, he was the first bond I saw when I grew up, and there just something about the way he played him as said those iconic words “Bond.. James Bond”.
I like Moore’s version, but did not sit right with me, Dalton's was a great Bond, it a shame he did not get to do more outing as him. I guess that would have happened if the lawsuit over who owned the right to Bond never happened, but I always though it was United Artist it was there logo before the film. But going by the out come it was MGM.
Anyway as for Brosnan, I think his best outing as bond was GoldenEye, that film total rocked as did the N64 game, but the other Brosnan films did not sit right with right with me, but Brosnan did try to get back the emotion of Bond with his second from last film. As for the last well the story stuck big time, and just came across as to gimmicky for me.
I like Daniel Craig’s version of Bond, grittier and more reckless, and showing he as the potential to be Britain’s greatest secret agent.
