| DON'T OPEN THAT!! | Clash of the titans in 2010 Did a search in the Forums no posts or threads about this so I figured I'd get the masses opinion. It's up on IMDB right now as being in production. LINK I dunno I think I'd like tosee a remake of this especially with todays technology in graphics and filmaking. The original was awesome I still watch it whenever it comes on. As long as they get a HOT princess andromeda and no toga toting Harry Hamlin I should be good. Del Torro would be an awesome choice for director on this one too. |

| SFM Obsessed | Good "genre-specific" movies come along in small batches then disappear again for a long time. Sci-Fi has it's periods like the 70's where it's flush with success, then seems to lose steam for a while, up until the next batch of original films. We're just seeing another break from the good! The same can be said of westerns/cowboy and horror flicks. The problem in Hollywood at the moment is that everything is driven by getting people into the cinema, something that may sound like the norm, but this time it's more-or-less to the total exclusion of independents and creative movies that aren't guarenteed big figures. This is why remakes are so popular; remake something popular from the 30+ era's childhood and the belief in the industry is that you will get bums on seats regardless of the quality of the movie... Unfortunately this holds true the majority of the time, and until people stop going in droves to see these often mediocre films, the producers and presenters of films will continue to invest in and show them to the near exclusion of everything else |

| Well I'm pretty happy about it. With CG and all the new special effects techniques out now. Not to mention better action sequences. It aught to be great. Release The Kraken! |

| DON'T OPEN THAT!! | Spudmonkey's right, its the unfortunate reality that most Genre specific movies will come across as having been done before and there's really no escaping that. Somebody somewhere has had your idea before and presented it to the masses in some form or another its just the way it is. Everything tends to bite off everything else and then put a twist in to call it uniques and original. That's why Studios get away with all this rehash crap, they wait till its out of sight and mind of the masses and then bring it back with new flare and glitz and call it new. Take Bangkok Dangerous for instance, Nick Cage is starring in this "NEW" thriller but I watched the original the other night. It's crap like this that makes movie watching hard, now I will give credit for the adaptations I have no issue with those like the Comic book movies hell even Narnia and of course lord of the rings, yes yes there have been series and made for TV movies about them but the big budget blockbuster route they've been taking lately is working out pretty well. Being and independent filmmaker myself I totally feel the crunch of Genre vice, my feature film that's in progress now is a zombie movie. 0 originality for concept as far as horror movies go so I have to do things within the movie to make it different and more exciting and have people desire to watch it. I definitely take influence from J.J. Abrams interview when he was talking about the subtleties of movie in general that tend to get lost in the big lights and heavy effects shots. He was very specific about making people care about what was going on with the characters in the film and I took that to heart when writing this movie. The horror while being the basis of the film is only part of the foundation and is actually a character in itself in some instances but the fulcrum of the movie are the characters and their reactions to their plight before during and after the Horror. I think that Hollywood has fallen so far off the mark of building character/viewer involvement that it will take major shake up to get it back to that level. w00t!!!! 500th post Biznatch!!!! (sorry I feel I've made an accomplishment) |
