Thats cool B.J. I look forward to hearing what you think. I look forward to what the younger kids think. I know my cousin looks foward to it-and she is NOT a fan of the new padawan Ashoka. If your son likes it you might think about getting the visual guide for him - it is realy colorful with layouts of the characters, clones, and some of the ships. He may like it.

Star Trek faired a bit better when it was taken out of Roddenberry's imediate hands, maybe it would be best if the same was said for Lucas. I mean there is plenty of source material why not let someone else add a new spin to Star Wars, or is he afriad that he'll be upstaged ( see Empire Strike Back)

Thank god we had speilberg pushing for good old fashioned hollywood movie techniques in Indy IV or it could of been worse, alot worse...

I'm off to see it tomorrow, the day I let a review stop me seeing a film I am looking forward to, I might as well just stop going to see films altogether.

If it sucks, more fool me, but at least I will have made my own mind up.

Loved incredible hulk, liked Rambo, loved mama mia, loved Indy 4, not overly impressed by dark night.

My taste in films is not easily categorised.

Well of course. Reviews only work if you share similar views with the reviewer.

I don't know bout that, TOS is still the best of the series at least to me and he was the creative mind behind TNG till he died. DS9 Was great but you had Ron Moore working on that and he took it out along the lines of Babylon 5 which was a good move but since those other 2 whack jobs have been running the show it's gone down hill Voyager was the last great piece of work from that team and it was ho hummish for a long time before it got better.

SW on the other hand you are absolutely right, it has been proven that when he has direct involvement save for ANH it's not the best of outcomes. Yes he does the writing but look at ESB compared to the rest of them and then look at his involvement with them. Irvin Kershner kicked ass on the directing of that movie and the screen play was written by some one other than Lucas.

TPM: All Lucas
AOTC: All Lucas
ROTS: All Lucas

I would take ESB over all 3 of the above as a whole in terms of story and character dynamic, hell the original trilogy (And I hate ROTJ) are collectively better than these 3 IMHO.

I'm not saying he's not a visionary because he is, he's a man that took a risk and a leap of faith and pushed the boundaries of effects driven cinema and I applaud him for that but his directing is sub par and his writing can be luke warm. Sometimes he nails it and I'm like damn that was insane but for the prequels yeah not so much and as much as people will disagree I believe that the future of Star Wars is better off out of his hands in terms of story and writing. Push the technical edge and give input but leave the major story development to fresh minds that re not bound by the fate of one stinkin Jedi Family.

Simon Abrams: Ok...These things are seriously impairing my ability to think rationally.
Dana Crutchfield: What?

I was kinda of lol'ing when I saw baby Jaba, but then I thought about all of those bad jokes that come with a baby in the story... :\

Lucas is defining the PRO's & CON's of the "I can alter it however I wish!" idealism with his antic's. Until he dies the rest of his life will be like a Real Time class in "Artist License vs Audience Respect" ethic's.

Sig's too long... Nanogator

I dunno... kinda hard to imagine Indy 4 being that much worse.

Ya see, I didn't see TF:A tying into the original, as much as it was re-booting it.

Besides, the kinda guy I am, story alone doesn't do it for me. It's like comic books- half the reason to buy them is the artwork. The other half is the story. In order for me to overlook the story, the artwork has to be that much more phenominal. Likewise, to overlook the artwork, the story has to be that much more phenominal.

TF:A isn't that much more phonominal- either in artwork or story. Yes, it's a kid's show, but one that hasn't hooked THIS adult like other kid's shows- like Avatar: The Last Airbender. Good art AND good story.
