| Indeed - makes me wonder what's going to happen in the future however. From the preview, it looks like the Cybermen coming through from the alternate dimension, in which case, what about the Cybermen of our universe? Are we going to be looking at a Cyber civil-war, al la the many Dalek factions? It would seem as though the new crew are putting way more emphasis on the Cybermen being the new repeating arch-enemy rather than the Daleks - wonder whether that's to do with more copyright control. |

Blog Entries: 2 | I beleive the Doctor wiped out our universes cybermen in silver nemisis, including their homeworld. Mind you, he did the same to the daleks, he was quite the death merchant in that last McCoy series. Daleks are stubborn though, no matter how often you wipe them out utterly, they always come back. |

| Actually, in Silver Nemesis he wiped out the remaining Cyber fleet - quoting the Cyber leader in that story, Earth was to become the new Mondas as the home world was already gone. The problem is that (as with many enemies), the Dr. has met the Cybermen in the current time (as with Silver Nemesis) and in the future. Seeing as how the Cybermen never had time travel technology (unlike the Daleks), it would have been impossible to have wiped out all Cybermen in Silver Nemesis, as they appear repeatedly in later centuries. What's even worse is that Mondas is quoted as being wiped out several times, yet older Doctors have already visited Mondas in future eras. In summary - I never write a Dr. Who bad guy off, not just because of story contrivances, but more as the Dr. Who continuity is so bad. |

Blog Entries: 2 | But his actions are always rewriting history arent they? Stuff he does now makes stuff he did then not to have happened, but he remembers it because the tardis makes him immune to changes in the past, I think. |

| Well, it would be nice to think that was the solution, but I don't think so - they've come up with all sorts of excuses over the years but it still all boils down to the fact that BBC don't bother to track continuity properly. They've had the same problem in every SF series that they've produced. The Red Dwarf crew have an hilarious time at conventions making up answers to (or simply ignoring, to the delight of the audience) continuity related questions. As an example, when the Cybermen recognise the Dr. in Earthshock (set in the 21st century), they recognise him as their arch enemy and show images of events that have happened on their computer screen...some of which are in future eras... hmm. ![]() On top of which, remember the Eccelstone episode where Rose saves her father...that sort of knocks the theory of the changing occurences on the head. |
