| I am Gugeyewalker...Gug for short! So yeah.... ![]() Happy to be getting back into all this meshing stuff, been doing it on and off. Lately I had been quake3 mapping trying to do massive game -modding projects. The other day though, I had an epiphany. I am sure some of you have heard of that damn game Star Trek Legacy. So three hours into playing it I notice they have a certain ship in there I had not seen released to the public in about 20 years; the Romulan V-30 Winged Defender. Then I noticed several other FASA star trek ships in the game. For those of you who don't know, those ship designs, some of the best ever in Star Trek, originated from an RPG company called FASA over 20 years ago. Eventually all their pnecil and paper gaming material went out of print, and became collectors item. My cousins and I played the Starship Tactical Combat Simulator with pencil and paper and hex-grid when we were youngins til wee hours of the morning. Since then I always thought how cool it would be to have a real computer game with some of those ships in it; and when I got into meshing how cool it would be if I were the one who actually made the models for the game. Well, SOMEONE HAS BEAT ME TO IT!! Wake up Gug, I say to myself. It's time to put the gaming mod projects aside for a while and refine those modeling skills for a real portfolio or something. Anyway....I am working with 3ds Max 8, strong on starship / vehicle modeling and textures, inexperienced but get the jist of low poly character modeling, weak on animation, for now; prefer Jascs Painshop Pro to photoshop. I am looking forward to becoming an active participant / contributor. Looking forward to learning where I am weak, and helping out where I am strong. About that Winged Defender - here's my version I did about 2 years ago on 3dsMax 2.5 hehe |

| A fellow Dallasite Hey Gug, I'm pretty much doing the same thing except I haven't been doing this forever. In fact I just joined recently myself lol. Anyway uh... welcome to the club? I'm started out on the animation side of 3ds and I'm getting better at it. I just finished rendering a 5 second planet shot thats about to get keyed in with after effects on a project I'm workin on, so I feel your pain. Good job on that ship btw |

This is the model I'm currently using. I've done a little cheating here and there as I'm still not THAT good with 3ds here it is. I should probably clean up the directories a little and throw it up somewhere. | |
