Photoshop Warp 9 in Photoshop!

How to Create a Starfield and Warp effect in Adobe Photoshop

1. Open a blank document, 800 pixels by 800 pixels
Select the "Fill" tool (it looks like a paint bucket) fill the image with black.

2a. Open Filter-Noise-Add Noise. Choose a value that seems appropiate, i did 12, and select Gaussian. Click OK

2b. Select Filter-Blur-Blur. (Your image should now appear to be a mottled gray-brown-black)

3. Click on the 'Layers' palette, and rename 'Layer 1' to 'Stars'. Copy Layer "stars", and name the copy "Warp". the warp layer should be on top.

4. Make sure that you have the 'Warp' layer selected. Click on Image- Adjustments- Threshold. Drag the Slider to the left until you see a few stars

pop out. This part depends on how many warp streaks you want. I chose a value of 65, but this part is fully your choice. Click OK.

5. Click on Filters-Blur-Blur to give your stars a softer look. Change the Blending Mode from 'Normal' to 'Screen'. (if at this point your stars layer becomes visible, click the little eye icon adjacent to the layer to turn it off)

6a. Drag your warp layer over the 'Create New Layer' button on the bottom of the layers palette. This will duplicate your warp layer. [Repeat twice.]

6b.Now merge all your Warp duplicates into a single layer. (At this point, your layer may be named Warp Copy, or Warp Copy 3, so just change the layer
name back to 'Warp').

7. Selct Filters-Blur-Radial Blur. Select Value of 20 (experienced users can play around with this), change style from Spin to Zoom, and select 'Best' in the quality options. Click OK.

8. Repeat step 6a to create 4 duplicate layers. Make sure that all the layers are on 'screen' mode. Then repeat 6b.

9. Repeat Step 2b.

10. Now turn off the Warp layer, and select the 'Stars' layer. (make sure that the layer is visible, click on the eye to turn it on)

11. Copy the Stars layer, rename the middle layer to 'Stars', and the bottom layer to 'Starfield'. select the layer 'stars', and Click Image-Adjustments-Threshold. Select a value of 50. Then repeat Step 9.

12. Change Opacity of your Stars layer to 60 percent, and make sure your bottom layer is visible through it. your Image should now look something like this.

13. Change the opacity of the Stars layer to 30% and the Starfield layer to 20 Percent.

14. Now turn on the Warp Layer on top. This is what your final picture should look like.

15. Feel free to play around with this untill you get an image that suits your needs. To use as a background animation, try it with initial settings of 800 px Height, and 1200 px width, or change to a higher ppi ratio.

Not bad, it would be a bit more helpful as a pdf with pictures though. But thanks, I've been looking for a good way to make stars.
