| Senior Member | I've put together a step-by-step guide on how to turn a model into a texture map, edit it, and then get it back onto the model. This was new to me, and thought I'd share it with other newbies. | Senior Member | Hey Noble... Welcome and thanks for the kind words about the tutorial. Yeah, I have always sorta floundered when it came to properly or efficiently doing texture maps. I sat down with a mate, bought him some beer, and he managed to get it thru my head. I'll occassionally put together more tutes as I figure out how to do more stuff. Cheers! |

| hi sandmanNinja Thanks for sharing btw On your tut you wrote "I don’t know why, but whenever I hit Map Channel #3, everything snaps into place" Well if you look at the bake menu image, under "object to bake" its written: teapot 01 channel 3 That is why you need to set the channel to 3 on material editor. However this can be change . On the menu under mapping you can set it to one. |

| Senior Member | ah ha! Thanks cat. I also added a step where I add a background environment colour (usually offwhite or gray) - it makes the lighting more uniform. With more uniform lighting, it makes the various surfaces better lit when its unwrapped. I'll revise with your explanation and my extra tip. |
