I know what you mean - I work with a lot of Americans and Phillipinos and English people, and it takes too long to explain Newcastle to them, so I often just say I'm from Sydney - everyone knows where that it!

I spend too much time away these days, I'm up in the mountains of Papua New Guinea looking for more of that expensive black stuff right now, and will have to enjoy the State of Origin from Port Moresby this year.

But surely you should not claim to be from Newy?
I constantly get grief from Lake Macquarie residents, claiming they are not part of Newy!
