Announcing Nominations for the 1st Annual SFM Meshies Awards!

Attention all members,

Almost three years ago the idea was formed to hold an annual awards event where you, the SFM community, would be able to nominate and award your peers for some of the incredible work we see on the site throughout the year. We'll we're a bit late to the party but we're here now and ready to turn this idea into a reality.

Starting in January, nominations will commence for SFM's First Annual Meshies Awards across a number of categories. We're looking for a minimum of three and a maximum of six nominations per category (a full category list will be announced shortly).

Nominations Round
Nominations will take place in threads created in the General Discussions forum. In order to avoid saturation of the GD forum, we will spread nominations out over the month with closing dates for each category being announced in the individual threads. You will be informed in this thread as new nomination categories become available.

Official nomination threads provide members with the opportunity to put forward their choice for nominations and to discuss various member's merits. Only one nomination per member is permitted in each category. Think of this as your opportunity to convince every one else as to why you feel your nominated member deserves this award more than any other. Feel free to post images, links, quotes etc to back up your claims, however, bare in mind that these are Scifi-Meshes Community awards and therefore they are to be judged on contributions to the SFM community...Work performed by your preferred artist that has not been displayed on SFM is not relevant to these awards.

Closing Date for Nominations

While we are staggering the introduction of new categories for nomination, all categories will remain open for additional nominations until nominations for all categories are complete. IE - Nominations across all categories will end at the same time. We do not yet have a date when this will occur but we will let you know at least a week in advance when the closing date is decided upon.

To avoid filling the General Discussions area with Meshies nominations threads, once an individual nominations thread has received six nominations, it will be moved to a Meshies sub-forum that will be created. Members will still be able to add additional nominations to these categories if they wish to.

Post-Nominations
Should we find ourselves in a position where more than six members have been nominated for any given category, we will implement a post-nominations voting process. You will be asked to vote for members you feel should continue on the final round of voting. Voting for multiple members will be allowed at this stage.

Voting
Final voting for the 2008 Meshies will take the form of an online multiple choice questionnaire where you will be asked to vote on various categories (awards). Only one vote per category will be allowed. Voting will be restricted to SFM members and you are only to vote once. You will have the opportunity to pass on any categories you do not wish to vote on.

We'll keep you updated in this thread as new award categories are opened for nominations.

I hope you enjoy the entire Meshies voting process (This is intended to be fun!) and encourage all members to take part, regardless of your artistic skills or post count. Rest assured, all votes are considered equal with no members or staff receiving more or less than a single vote. Only in the event of a tie will the Administrators vote to determine a winner.

Hi all. Apologies for the delay in moving the nominations forward - It's been a hectic couple of weeks. On to the news -

Nominations for SFM Staffer of the Year and Most Insanely Detailed Model award categories have now commenced.

Also, the Most Improved Modeller and Best Member Signature threads have now been moved to the 2008 SFM Meshies Nominations sub-forum.

It's been considered, but the voting software simply couldn't handle that many nominations.
