| Dear Group, Thanks for any consideration that you may have given this project. This morning I was fortunate enough to find a fellow willing to help out, so I suppose the remainder of this post is now moot __________________________________________________ ________ Any suggestion on how much money this is going to require to get a nibble? ... don't make me put programmer art in my game! I am a research professor writing a "serious" game (not necessarily meant to entertain) through which to present events to study associative learning in humans. It is a first-person space shooter style game and an extension of work I have previously done and published. I am in need of a quality modeler who would be willing to collaborate minimally in the creation of four spaceships and four weapons. I have relatively concrete ideas about each, but there is room, and necessity, for creativity. The spaceships can be relatively simpe single meshes. Two of the four can be modifications of meshes I presently have. Two will have to come from scratch. The weapons will need to be rigged so that I can animate them in code. They will not need animations built in, but will need to be created from three meshes, parented together, with each mesh having its own bone transformations. ( I do not know if that is the correct terminology as I am creating this game using the XNA game studio, and those are the terms used in that framework). The final format of the models will have to be .x or .fbx I do have money in a grant to pay for these, although it may not be much. One extremely talented artist agreed to work on this project for the amount that I have earmarked, but later had to decline due to issues unrelated to the project, so I imagine it is a reasonable sum. [EDIT] I have 200 euro that I can pay on this, which is presently $310, minus whatever your bank charges to process the transfer if you're in the states [end edit] This is a non-profit tool that I use for my own research, and distribute free of charge to anyone else in my field who has an interest in using it. A previous version of the game has been used by myself to conduct research with well over 1000 college-aged individuals, and colleagues at other universities have used my game as well. My previous game is described in two published research papers. Thus, the game itself will have a reasonable exposure. Any work that you do on the game, in addition to a modest monetary compensation, will be credited on the opening spalsh screen, closing credits, and in the acknowledgements section of any paper that I publish using the game as a method. All work would be ideally finished by the end of May. If you are interested, please contact me at DrJBN at Hotmail dot Com or at my university address JamesByron.Nelson at ehu dot es I tend to check the hotmail account more often as that interface is presently better that that offered by the Uni. I've several progress videos at youtube which present some of the look/feel of the game. YouTube - DrJBN's Channel I've put up a more detailed description along with pictures in a PDF file that you can get here Model_needs_summary.pdf - Windows Live SkyDrive Best to you all, Byron |
