| dude..that's not how it works..jesus. you have to come up with storyboards of ALL your FX Shots then give each a budjet. THEN ask people if they would do this and that shot for X or Y amount of money |

| Newstwattie | It doesn't appear as if you've done anything on this project yet, even your forum is completely empty with the exception of posts by yourself. Respectfully, I would suggest that when you actually have started some work on the film come back and ask for some help then. |

| Worldwide Phenomenon | What do feature animations have to do with a fanfilm? Those numbers are intimidating, but ultimately meaningless. You would get a better indication from indie animations (still a bit high on the curve) or better yet, a couple of episodes of TV animation. You'll notice the cost gets much more manageable. That being said, Dark Majesty, we get a lot of great ideas here. Unfortunately that tends to make people a hint cynical when it comes to lending a helping hand, because more often that not these ideas are nothing more than a page or two of synopsis, if that. Alternatively we get spreadsheets full of minutiae and space ship comparisons and no sense of a story, visual guideline or anything whatsoever. It may seem like a lot of great material to the person who came up with all that stuff, but from where we're standing it's just another idea. I suggest you try a more hands-on approach and start with a sort of a prototype or pitch type animation. Just a couple of minutes of footage. Could be a single scene or a trailer/teaser type of deal. Make it rough if you don't have the talent hired yet. Just something concrete to establish the basic pipeline, the setting and as much of the visual identity as possible. In the end you will hopefully have a pipeline for getting stuff from concept stages to final footage, possibly some ideas for best working practices and hopefully a new appreciation for how long quality animation takes. In an ideal case, you will also have a nifty little demo/prototype to pitch for your project that you can show people you're trying to hire (I realise it's usually the other way around, but right now you need the talent more than they need you). Hell, if it's cool enough you'll probably have talent offering to work on it. Worst case scenario, you'll have some material you can file for later use and hopefully some new knowledge you can use in future endeavours. |

| Newstwattie | Darkdoda is talking about a 90 minute animation which would be considered Feature in anyones books, the point really is try not to aim so high. 5-10 minutes is more than enough to get your story across and show your talent to the world. In reality while my numbers are scary the actual cost for producing the raw animated feature is closer to $900,000.00 the rest is probably coffee and donuts. Don't be put of Darkwhatisname, just try and aim a little lower |
