December 2006

Well I got my new camera at Christmas and as soon as it was out the box I dragged my parents out into the cold and started experimenting!

Theres a clever little feature on the camera that enables you to remove almost all colour bar one, which makes for some quite cool shoots. (Once I've read the 800+ page instruction manual I'll tell you what it's called.)

Tell me what you think!?

Oh and the third pic, that's our newest memeber of the family (the stuff dog), he's not as cute as he looks! Fourth pic's of me (on the left) and my other half

All pictures taken on my 7mgPxl Cannon PowerShot A710IS

It's called "Colour Accent".

there's another interesting feature called "Colour Swap" which allows you to replace one colour with another.

In the right environment and with the right subject it can work very well, but you have to be careful- as you can see on your "yellow" photo, the bushes have traces of yellow in them too.

Ah there we go! Colour Accent! Well now I know, I'll go and have a look at the manual! hehe

I was being a typical bloke and throwing the manual to one side and saying, "Ah, dont worry with that crap I'll be fine..."

...and then two hours later I was still struggling to turn the bloody thing on!

haha- Good camera though, the IS will come in handy if you do any sports photography.

Im not exactly the follower of sport type! But your right, the motion capture on this cam is pretty cool. I've been experimenting with time delayed photography as well.

Keeping the exposure open longer makes for some pretty sweet shots; on the bridge opposite my apartment, we've taken one (me and my flat mate -whose incidentally much more photographically sophisticated) of all the traffic going by, the cars aren't there however, the streaming lights are still present, will upload that one shortly...
