Luna

Hi,

I made this tonight. Made a bunch of pictures, most of them are ****e. A combination of a cheap camera, struggling with it's fixture and the moon moving just so damn fast.

I couldn't use my Fuji S6500fd for this as its lens is just too big. I can't get a decent picture with that. So I had to use my father's Sanyo Xacti S70. Which has no manual mode at all ... The telescope is a Skywatcher 130/900mm reflector. A new one is planned (will probably be a Meade LX-90 10" GPS) but we'll get that next year.

Anyways, here's one of the few pictures that turned out okay. Keep in mind, this is a "single pass" with a cheap compact digicam in automatic mode (mostly, I was actually able to set focusing distance to infinite). I did play around with it a little. Whitebalance, contrast and some sharpening. Nothing too serious though, no fan of that.

Blame the atmosphere for the 'wobbly' edges.

And, just for fun, here is one with the Fuji at max zoom (300mm). Quite a difference, huh ...

I'll browse through the pics and see if I'll post more.

Cheers,
Ch.

THe first one is excellent, I cant beleive you even got stars in the picture, they are so hard to get in with the moon without the moon getting overexposed.

Biotech - To be honest, that's just another pic I stuffed in there. Sorry for the cheat. I actually removed that later, uploaded the older version though.

Impressive. You should be a nasa photographer. You have some good patience and skill. Yeah that skill is in it's teenage years but hey. Keep at it and you will do wonders with what is high above our puny little heads.
