Getting used to the new equipment

Gentlemen,

ol' Darkensau has had a lot of fun with photography over the last few months. He went from ****ty compact camera to Fujifilm S6500fd (a so called bridge camera). Now he made the step, no, leap further - ol' Darkensau got himself a DSLR (pretty much killing his bank account in the process).

So, for documentary reasons, here's a ****ty picture of Darkensau's new equipment, taken with his cellphone:

And here is a bunch of pictures that he took today. There's hundreds more but a few are enough for now. No "killer pictures" but not all too bad either ... so he hopes.

Regards.

Cool stuff. How much did Darkensau pay for this?

Ahh damn. Thanks for that.

JRL3001 - Actually, it's the 55-200VR. No need for a "superzoom", really. Would be a nice lens for holidays though, all in one ...

Very nice. The ones of the sweetcorn and the dragonfly type thing are particularly good I think. You'll be having a bit of fun with all that I do believe!

Yup, the cornfield pics are the best of the bunch- though invest in a polarizer at some point, you'll see the benefit straight away.

How'd you get so close to the fly and Dragonfly? For me, those are by far the most impressive and are reminiscent of the kind of photography I'd love to do.

Spry - Well, for one the 90mm is a decent macro lens, the magnify power is 1:1 at max. That means it projects the object just as large on the CCD as it really is. And as the CCD is pretty small - the result is a nice closeup. In reverse that means that even from a little further away you still get decent magnification. And the dragonflies let ye ol' Darkensau get relatively close, obviously he's not that scary.

*e* By the way. All pictures are just scaled down except the closeup of the dragonflie's head, that's a 100% crop.

Greggles - Yepp, it's definately planned. As are the DR-6 Right Angle Viewfinder, battery grip and a new tripod. But that will have to wait, Darkensau needs a few bucks for gas and cigarettes, too ...
