| Photography help with Darky and Sammy! Moderator note: Moved these posts over from Darky's thread to keep it easily organised, and to keep both threads on topic- hope there's no confusion over that. ![]() Ah you see, my camera is just a typical model, not suited for any professional use. Well, it has a hole for the tripod but what camera doesn't I think I will buy a better camera next summer ... then I'll try doing better photos. BTW here's the best I have probably ever done : |

| Thanks I'm going to start doing 2D stuff this summer so I think I will start with altering existing images. I'll see what I can do ... But there's probably no hope for this image - it was already set on the lowest quality so that the "flakes" didn't blur |

| This time you see | Not to hijack darky's thread, but to prove a point, I take loads of my pics with a Canon Powershot S70- about as far from a "professional" camera as possible. ![]() ![]() Don't let not having "the best" equipment put you off if its something you have a passion for. Although we're not a photography forum as such, I'm sure there's plenty of people here who would be happy to offer help and advice if you want some guidance when it comes to photography. |

| You hassle, you die. | True. Just ask, somacruz145. =Speaking of buying DSLRs ... so often I read postings from people who want a DSLR ... but have no clue, what a DSLR really means. They produce ****ty pictures and blame the compact digicams. A quick look at the EXIF ... f/11, exposure time of a second ... no wonder the picture looks like crap. But it is a rare event that one of these people can be convinced that a DSLR is not the "wallpaper machine" they want it to be ... |

| Still Alive | my Sony P72 is 5 years old, but it still takes some decent pictures if the conditions are right the screen is too small to really know if things are focused the flash is 2 inches to the right of the lens, which makes a nasty shadow to the left of things it's quite noisy in low light it's only 3.1 megapixels but I've gotten great use out of it |

| Thanks everyone for your wise words Guess my camera isn't so bad after all ... maybe I just wanted too much from the pictures Ok once I finish my school-leaving exams I'm going to start doing some nice pictures ... well, at least I'll try. Here's what I did a few minutes earlier - a pic of my phone. I applied some changes to the contrast and brightness so that the effect of the glow is more visible. What do you think ? ![]() ![]() It's already night at my place so the image will be grainy no matter what I do |

| This time you see | At this stage it would be good if you could let us know what camera it is you're using? ![]() The way I see it, everyone has the ability to make a world-class photograph, but only a few actually realise they can do it. And Darky got it spot on when he said that a high end Digital SLR camera with all the trick accessories and lenses does not guarantee a good picture. Instead they should be regarded as accessories that can augment existing talent and skill. |

| I'm using a Pentax Optio T20 7mpx And it seems that even if my camera has a decent picture quality , I lack the ability to hold it straight and make a nice photo I agree with Darkness and you Samurai about the equipment but I think that a steady hand or a tripod (this one is a bit safer bet) wouldn't do anything bad to the quality of my photograps |
